Ash Spencer Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Cant blame the officials for dropped ball and missed tackles.. but i dont think ive ever seen a team get away with being as blatantly offside as they were at times .. thats what bugged me
XIII man Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wow I've never witnessed so many gloaters on this forum from opposing fans. They must have been overwhelmed with envy. Get over it we lost through bad discipline and a very ropey defence, Im not sure how many fans are gloating? The way I have read the above posts are views supporting the referee. I enjoyed the game and thought the referee did reasonably well. The penalty against Morrison proved crucial. He called 'held' too soon and Morrison should have been allowed to release the ball as the Toulouse players were driving him back. The penalty against your winger for pushing after the tackle was harsh too. However refs will make errors and sometimes close calls will go against your team. Great win for Toulouse and I dont expect many other teams to win at Fev this year, if any!
John63 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 We've already tonked Halifax away and drawn with Barra. I'd have said, on tonight's showing, we'd have beaten you this weekend as well were we not on the road to Wemberleigh The only chance you have of reaching WEMBLEIGH is if you are reffed by Warren turLEIGH
Leyther_Matt Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 The only chance you have of reaching WEMBLEIGH is if you are reffed by Warren turLEIGH Well, he did ref us in the last round!!

frankb Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 You lost because you did not play well. Don't believe me then watch a rerun of the game. Referee was consistent throughout the game. The Sky commentators seemed to think he reffed OK or are they as blinkered as the original poster ? Best team on the night won.
Leyther_Matt Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 nUFF SAID It was during the volcanic ash episode so there weren't many there to witness it either way!
John63 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 It was during the volcanic ash episode so there weren't many there to witness it either way! Yeah Matt but I just wished some of that ash could have dropped down on Post Office Road when we led 24-10; Ahh well back to the drawing board we've run our country mile :
elppaxr2i Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 on the re run it appears most calls were correct and we cant have no complaints
John63 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 on the re run it appears most calls were correct and we cant have no complaints What about the non decisions though if you get my gist!!!!!
Robin Evans Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 one thing. Last year when we lost a game it was down to mainly us lot to pick the bones out of the defeat. Not sure here, but i'm thinking it's a mark of significant progress that so many fans of other teams have "joined us" after our first defeat. Where have you all been or our previous 8 league games? Ah well, i'll bet training is a ball ache this week! "I love our club, absolutely love it". (Overton, M 2007)
Matt J Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wasnt impressed with the referee, pinged us everytime we werent square, but constantly ignored whenever Toulouse did the same, very very very infuriating. Cummins Out.
John63 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wasnt impressed with the referee, pinged us everytime we werent square, but constantly ignored whenever Toulouse did the same, very very very infuriating. Exactly and these are the non decisions that television viewers do not see. Albeit the last two games our danger men have been nullified but hey this is ONE DEFEAT that we are talking about
PJT Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) I might fall out with people here but we can't pin all the blame on the ref. Yes, he was frustrating and gave decisions against us but we made far more mistakes than he did. At the end of the day we played poorly, ok with a different ref, we would have probably won the game but lets look at our sens first. I don't understand the comment that 1,000 less will turn up next home game due to this? Why? If it was the ref's fault, surely these 1,000 would realise that it would be different with a different ref in the middle? At the end of the day, if Fev had played top notch like we know they can (and have previously this season) we would have won, end of story. This "the world is against us" is wearing thinner than posh spice. Edited May 6, 2010 by PJT
AckworthGAZ Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 The Tv may prove that the ref got the majority of the calls right ( apart from the Morrison scrum I'm sure if the defence had put him on his ###### after he had called held they wouldn't of been penilised) but being at the game the injustice is that the french were doing the same things we were getting punished for but not being pulled for it. This is why all our suporters felt cheated by the ref. The TV won't show this with the camera shots. It feels like 2 games now have been determined by the ref we got a result at widnes dispite the ref but today it was too much for us. The fench tackeled very well and put us under pressure but all the pens and our poor handling cost us.
Bob Crowther Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Yes, we were off our game tonight. Yes, we lacked flair and ideas and cannot blame the ref for that. Having said that, I have never witnessed a ref doing his utmost to keep a team in the game as he did tonight. Even the Sky team commented on his decisions as being harsh and puzzling. The Morrison off load should have been classed a penalty, resulting in a kick to touch, not a scrum. What was he thinking of?. Toulouse spent more time offside at play the ball and were allowed to retire behind the scrum a metre or so inside the regulatory five metres. Forward passes were the norm, at least one try resulting. I do not mind poor decisions, providing that they are poor decisions for both sides.Tolouse are a good strong running team, but they were certainly aided and abetted tonight.
The King Of Leon Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 From a neutral point of view - you got beat because a,Jessie Joe Parker did nowt ( and i rate him very highly) b,Finn playing up the hill 2nd half did little after having a great 1st half. c, your forwards hardly made a break all night d, your defence was poor esp when Mitchell scored from dummy half. Credit to toulouse, they looked dangerous all night, Bromley is a great full bk and tbh they were well on top all the 2nd half and if anything should have won by more.
LOWFIELD Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 having watched the game again on SKY didnt think the ref was as bad as when i was at the game, he got a few wrong, like the one on Zak was very harsh but they had a couple like that as well. I just think they came with a good gameplan and busted us up, fair play to em i say. They look a good physical team to me, we were never going to win every game, lets just hope we win the majority. up the rovers My granny god bless her used to tell me at times like these " david these things are sent to test us"
Bearman Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Well say what you want I still think that the first video decision was wrong watched it 3 times and that ball was short and isnt it funny how we lose a game and the 2nd and 3rd posts are from opposition fans bet you couldnt wait to get on here and comment well at least sky got their close game and mr turleys brother should be happy now Do you speak English? Ron Banks Midlands Hurricanes and Barrow
Birchy Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 We played bad. Ref did OK, especially in the first half. We could have won, but should have lost by more if they hadnt bombed about 3 chances near our line. For a long time we were in front only because we wernt as bad as them! Maybe this is the kick up the ###### we needed. We just need to focus on not doing a Halifax and falling to pieces after a defeat. We will be up for the Leigh game now! UP THE ROVERS!
snake1985 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 d, your defence was poor esp when Mitchell scored from dummy half. Couldnt agree more with the point above, we have let in a few tries when they scoot over from dummy half close to line, thats very basic poor rugby defense i know powell wont be happy. We lost, we will lose again but im proud that this season the home crowd attendance has doubled we are now getting over 2000 home fans which is brilliant, lets keep getting down and supporting the lads
dave the euph Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 BEARMAN not very well it seems but you can't hold that against me I was born in coventry and now live near Derby but please feel free to rip apart anything I may post on here infact why not explain whats wrong with my post? Or are you just trolling? am i bovvered

Great win for Toulouse and I dont expect many other teams to win at Fev this year, if any! Correct. Morrison was still uder the attention of several tacklers when the referee called held. Any other day it would have resulted in a penelty to us! not a scrum against. Crucial decision without of which we would have won. Must say the French / Aussies were not on side all game and at some times the referee failed to take them back 8 meters let alone 10! I demand to have some booze, I want it here and I want it now!
F.Slater Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) our completion rate was very poor and our defense lacked any kind of zip! Our discipline was even worse! The ref wasn't at fault for those! Sure, he come up with one or two odd ones but that happens to every team in every game! We should have had enough to put toulouse regardless of the ref. We were well off the pace tonight. Spot on with that Robin. They played better to the conditions and outmuscled us up front. I think they could have had another 12 points if it wasn't for dropped ball. As you say the ref made some poor decisions but we were beaten by a better side on the day Edited May 7, 2010 by F.Slater
