Just stop them drinking during the game at least. If a Challenge Cup final at Wembley gets in the way of going out on the sauce, then they should give their ticket to somebody else who actually appreciates what is being played in front of them.

Yep, and tbh at 4.30 for what is a pint of ###### (Carlsberg) I think they would be doing many fans a favour.

Jees Lowfield, you still banging on about this game, just because you lot turned up and had a good away day?

Plenty of teams' fans have a better time when they have a big away game. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it was novel for your fans to have a trip to Warrington, playing in a game with a crowd three or four times your regular crowds, whereas it was a bog-standard home game against a lower division team with a lower crowd than normal for the home fans, so clearly the Warrington fans wouldn't be dancing around in pubs bladdered at midday.

don't be patronising dave

and I can't believe you've got yourself into childish 'our fans are the best so there' 'debate'f.

I've spent a lot of time with Warrington fans over the last few weeks, including Wembley, and had a great time. I think people have more or less nailed what the problems were last sunday, problems encountered with all clubs including warrington.

Steady on old lad - he's not being patronising!
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Apologies if it came across like that, certainly didn't mean it to, but the fact is that most people who go to home games, perhaps nip for a few beers at the very most and watch the match and go home. That's the way at every club, except perhaps some Friday and Saturday big games where people use it to start the night off.

I have no interest in who's fans are best, in my opinion there is no such thing as 'best fans', I simply challenged Lowfield's involvement in this thread, finding him bringing up a game from months back pretty strange. We have seen the youtube videos, many Fev fans treated that game like a big away day, there is no getting away from that fact, I'm glad they enjoyed themselves, I just found it strange that it was to be brought up on this thread, when there is no reason on earth why the Wire fans would be dancing around bladdered in the Hop Pole at midday! It just didn't make any sense.

You won't find me ever stating that Wire fans are better (or worse) than anyone else, as personally I class myself as a RL fan first and foremost, and have respect for anyone that supports our game.

and one of the most honest people on the forum.

DaveT is a true gent, many on here (inc myself {sometimes}) can learn from his honest posts.

the OP is about trouble in the warrington end @ Wembley, not what happened in Warrington many months ago.

blush.gif Thanks, but to be fair, I'd like to think that l'ange knows my style tbh, even if he did take offence to the post in question. I have no issue with Fev or their fans.

IMO increasingly over the last few years the crowds are slowly getting spoilt by alcohol fuelled idiots. Its happening week by week at the grounds, and more so at the GF and CCF. I've seen increasing numbers of incidents at grounds and being reported on forums over the last few years, and its about time we call time on these anti-social folk who are deterring others from attending and watching good rugby league on the pitch.

I agree and a lot of these larger louts are in their late 30's and 40's, but fortunately they are a small (but sadly growing) minority. A lot of them are using RL as an excuse to get away from the wife and kids for an afternoon/evening and a day to go on the lash and also participate in other chemicals. Their interest in RL seems to be for their own team only and in big games like derbys and GF and CC finals, if that and not for the game in general. Many are ex soccer fans who have been banned from grounds for various offences and see RL as a good day out with booze available on tap throughout the match and able to drink on the terraces.

Apart from the bit about ex-soccer fans, you're right. I know down my street there are a few people who fit into this category, whose interest goes no further than supporting Warrington. Indeed I do know someone who refused to go to a match earlier in the season because he couldn't drink that week for medical reasons. And there are the occasional fans who go out on a Sunday afternoon in their Warrington shirts and go to the pub and listen to the game on the radio. GF night is the worst one, simply because people have had the whole afternoon drinking. It's just too easy to blame it on football fans, when really it's a problem with society at large.

I must admit I find it a bit silly when these statements are made, and it has already been made a couple of times in this thread. It is burying our head in the sand if we refuse to acknowledge that we have dickheads watching our sport, whether they also support another sport or not.

Warrington had plenty of problems in the 80's, some games were real no-go games, and we weren't the only team. During the 90's there was a real shift in the make-up of the Warrington crowds, and it became a much more friendly place to go as more and more families and children became involved with the club, mainly through the introduction of the Wolfpack club and the 10 season tickets. It became less acceptable for many of these dickheads to attend and cause trouble at Wire games, and it seemed that many had become bored with this and moved on.

My worry now is that as we are having a touch of success you then start to attract these 1980's fans back into the big games, and trouble can occur on the back of this. On the positive side though, you would hope that many of these people had grown up by now!

There is also the fact that hooliganism is romanticised in many ways, certainly in movies, and if there is any chance of a bit of trouble, you will often get some of the young scallies happy to tag on and act the hard man.

Towns like Warrington, Wigan, St Helens, Leeds, Hull, Castleford all have rough areas within them, where you have plenty of people who are happy to get involved in this behaviour, and to blame football fans is silly and ignores the real issues. In our grounds the stewarding is poor at best, and this needs to be stepped up.
