Well that's a blow.

Glad JK is seeing out the season at Batley, though.

Gives time to sort out succession.

What happens when Batley & Wakefield are involved in the "million pound game," though?

Its a long way off but that would be a real ironic twist.

Ive not been Kears biggest fan the last 2 seasons, but he has certainly turned it around so far this season.

I hope we can name his successor soon as I think this news and uncertainty over the new coach could disrupt the camp somewhat.

Quite surprised its been announced now and not kept begind closed doors until the seasons done if im honest.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

I guess it's better out in the open than endless rumour & speculation.

The will he / won't he rumours regarding the end of Harrison's tenure at Mount Pleasant got tedious towards the end.

Refreshing that JK has stood by his contractural handshake. True gent, well done.

Fiddlesticks! I thought JK would stick with us for a couple more seasons. It will certainly be goodbye to Hirst & J Brown I reckon

Doesn't have to be goodbye to anybody though does it? If the club approaches them now with a contract offer for a period of 1-2 seasons that is tempting why should they stick out hoping that Wakefield don't drop this year?

If he has a coaching certificate..what about a 2nd in command at a SL club a la Marshall at Halifax, say Briers or Long, or Harris? Even give Blacky or Tommo a ring, also wait and see if anyone applies or if JK talks to somebody..

The good news is he isn't going until the end of the season. The lads will be up to impress for an opportunity next season if they survive in SL or perhaps even as full-time champ players which Wakey still look favourites for next season. I'd like to see someone who knows the championship and players. Perhaps a player coach type? I really don't know but the good thing is Kevin etc. will sort it :wizard:

So much for Kear only wanting part time rugby now, what will happen if wakefield get religated, would he still want to go there??

He is going as director of rugby not as coach so more than likely still a part time role and a role where he will be less involved on the coaching side but more to do with recruitment side of it

What a crazy game. A few of us would of drove him down the mad mile personally last year. No it seems a real loss but one which we can fortunately plan for. Thanks john a true ambassador for the game

Why would these two players leave before knowing who the new coach will be? I thought J Brown signed a new two year contract at the end of the last season.

The early season games show Batley have a good squad of players which should attract a good coach.

I just can't believe the timing, why announce he is going next Season now? Surely it could have been announced at the end of the super 8s. I'm pretty sure nobody would have thought he was going back there, had it not been announced. Chester got the coaches job, end of. Absolutely nothing else needed to be published or even mentioned, therefore, no rumours or speculation.

I think it stinks tbh, we are riding high and the only way our form can go is down from how we've started the season. How many losses will it take for the Kear out brigade to start shouting he's lost the dressing room, 2/3 or maybe 4? The big question now is, do we wait for a couple of Losses, or do we get rid now before we start losing?

If Kear announced it, why? Does he want out now?

Or did Wakefield announce it to try and upset the apple cart, in case we meet them in the middle 8s?

If it's the latter, I hope the wildcats go bust and the Rfl do what they should have done years ago and force them to play at a suitable ground or relegate them.

I just can't see any logical reason to say anything about JK joining them next year, prior to this season ending. It doesn't do us any favours at all.

At rugby league clubs players and coaches come and go. The good news in this instance is J.Kear is going to see the rest of this exciting season to what all supporters would want and that is a successful campaign.

Our upward spiral so far has been a result of not just John but the whole club getting thing right. We have recruited well and all the new personal  have added to the improvements shown by the team. So much so that I and many other supporters believe we can challenge for a top four position and in doing so treble the monies available to build an even better squad next season when Mr Kear moves on. Good luck at the Wildcats I say John and thanks for your time at the Bulldogs but that is in 2017. There is still plenty of exciting matches to come before then as this pack of hungry Bulldogs chase success.

Of coarse we may lose some players next term but that usually happens at all clubs I am sure there will be new ones to fill their places on the playing roster. Onwards and upwards then from me and lets send John on his way with more success on his coaching CV as Batley Bulldogs continue our terrific start to 2016.
