Just been playing Argus , Robin the opening  bars of Blowin Free get me everytime ! So many memories of seeing them  at The Reading Festival , Leeds Uni, Bradford St George Hall, Leicester De Montford Hall and more recently the Irish Centre in Leeds and Andy Powell still working that Flying V...

I saw them t Leicester in the early days....Sheffield and Nottingham too.

Bad weather blues.... flip side to you see red was recorded at Sheffield.... I was there.... brilliant gig.... the crowd was mental that night.

Martin Turner played wath on dearne a few years ago brought to the Montgomery hall by the classic rock society. That was a real treat.

Yes.... blowin free..... classic intro

Continuing from the Obituary thread , Argus by Wishbone Ash an amazing album  and still possibly my all time fav, The King Will Come, Warrior and Blowin Free this album was soooo good it more or less ruined The Ash they tried but could never  better it and sadly Martin Turner and Andy Powell split hence the 2 bands still touring today.

Never seen the Andy Powell version but I've seen Martin Turner's band a couple of times, Well worth seeing if you're a fan of the original band.

Andy has the guitar sound.... he still goes well but Martin Turner has the vocals particularly for the Argus tracks and I suppose would be my favoured version of the band

Hit the nail on the head there with respect to the vocals.

They may not have been able to call themselves The Dictators for this album, but nothing much else had changed.

So, I'll ask the question: are clips not able or not allowed to be put on here anymore?

Would be a shame as this is one thread where the sharing takes priority over the grumbling.

But I'll keep trying while we play "Who was that masked man?" with the music.

The greatest thing to come out of Australia since Steve Gibson. They released this as a new single at the back end of last year, and I've had it stuck on permanent play in my head ever since. Superb. New album soon too!

CAUTION: Contains cuss words. In fact, as with most of their stuff, any radio edit would pretty much have to be an instrumental.

Just beautiful music.

I'm guessing from the name that "Handsome Dick" is still the main man.

Exactly the same line-up, different name. Even Ross the Boss took a sabbatical from wearing furry nappies in Manowar to rejoin the band for this album.

BBC4 at the moment is showcasing island Records artists. A tremendous record label at its peak, and some great musicians signed to them.

No problem at this end, should just be a matter of pasting the YouTube link and the video should pop up here.

Most times, it works just fine. Once in a while, you just get the link shown, not the video. Either way, clicking on the link works (in my experience).
