Hunslet win

We have an arrangement with Leigh and Huddersfield .They send us players to cover injuries .Yesterday we only had 16 fit players so our strength and conditioning coach played as part of the 17. The same happened a couple of seasons ago when we played Featherstone , we beat them as well!

Not quite,  we put 40 points on you, the mighty Haven didn't quite manage that . Anyway back to D/R, do you use it or not? You seem to be avoiding that question.

What’s the point being chippy ? You’re doing well and use all the help you can overtly . We are way away from the rugby centre and do our best to overcome geography and be as strong as possible as you’d expect , but only to cover ourselves and maintain strength when there’s injury . We’ve a vast majority of locals flogging themselves , often busted ,which is why we’ve a united group . As you’d expect theres a sprinkling of added quality which is a great balance . It doesn’t always happen but the commitment does .We’re all sick of every coach saying it’s a long way here you know - we do that every other week . Players down there can move a few miles easy , we’ve a lot to overcome so we get what we can to keep up . We had a good win yesterday so are enjoying it. You did so just concentrate on yourselves youve obviously nowt to worry about

Yes mate we are using DR as you well know. However we aren't going on other clubs forum implying double standards over critisism of the referee in a match we were not at.

Wasn’t sure i would be back from hols in time but just made it and so glad I did though worried when i saw the team and the first half was so frustrating seldom getting anywhere near finishing a set. What a difference second half though when we tightened things up and started to gel. Great team performance on the back of some great individual efforts; where would I start? Agree though some of the high ball takes from Hambley and Rooke were tremendous though made me wonder why we didn’t try a single bomb?

I’m not going to knock the Hunslet support as at least they had some and about the loudest we’ve heard at DP this year, some of their stuff was bit below the belt but their “Rugby’s coming home chant” was priceless. But just great to hear our home crowd warming to the task and drowning them out!

Disappointing day for us and the best team won fair and square. Its normally us who steamroller teams in the 2nd half but yesterday the boot was on the other foot.

As for the support, we do try and make a noise and get on with most teams fans as we just go for a laugh. Like all we do have some supporters who cross the line with bad language etc but its the minority and we do try to keep it in check ourselves. I shook hands and wished all the best to a number of Worky fans yesterday who in turn wished us a safe journey home but you always have the same 3 or 4 that try to cause problems mainly the fat one in the vest and flip flops who shouts and bawls then as soon as anyone says anything to him he runs to the stewards. And there is the black haired lad who likes to give the finger from a distance at every game. Its a shame they cant just enjoy the win but never mind, like i say, we all have em.

Good luck for the rest of the season (unless we see you in the play offs).

I think someone mentioned McAuley Davies not so long back . See in the RLE he’s gone back to Wigan as he couldn’t get a game for Halifax !

Get him up here.

That would be good . His bio also says young Morris is a centre / second row ...he’s giving it for the team but I still think Karl is wasted further out and we’re not getting the max out of him there . Hopefully we have more specialist backs next week as it was obvious Hunslet we’re trying to get round those guys and haven are useful there . Eliot and Perry at least you’d hope have a chance , and I’m not sure where JP was as he was out n about yesterday ? Must be carrying a niggle to

However good Johnson did yesterday , he and the others behind the scenes are doing outstanding work conditioning and preparing this team . Even with injuries , adversity and brutal conditions their fitness and sheer will are playing a big part, especially under pressure and late in games .We’re not always  the smoothest in how we manage the game but we’ve been defending  our errors increasingly well and are developing a tough attitude to handle situations a lot better . If we can marry that to a more consistent way of execution , particularly in big games to come we’ve a great package to make really good strides as Leon seems to be instilling his values and ethic there

Jp looked to pick up a bad knock to his knee at Oldham

I thought Hunslet were running away with it at one point in the first half as they looked dangerous on every attack, then we started bossing in the forwards and the high tackles started.

Your lads got the atmosphere going, I can't understand why some fans automatically hate the opposition fans. Why can't it just be good natured banter? We have lads shouting about six fingers at you, I don't get it. What does it say about them??

Anyway it was a good game and good luck to you too.

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Yes hunslets enthusiasm and intensity in the first half was good but there's was no way they could keep that up for 80 minutes in them conditions.  They got their game plan wrong IMO.

Theres bad feeling between the fans from the games at Hunslet.

Was talking to some hunslet fans when we went down they've got a serious hatred of the rhinos and the lads i spoke with where all Leeds United fans. Must be hard to follow hunslet if you live in the city and you've got the rhinos constantly winning grand finals etc.

Us older ones didn’t have the choice. It’s passed down that if you are born south of the river then you follow Hunslet. Up until the late 60’s the teams were on a level playing field and it was a massive rivalry. It’s getting harder now to get the kids involved  because of the Whinos success and constantly being on sky but we do try and spread the word.

That's a bit sad, it's like Fev hating Cas. Simple jealousy. It's not easy supporting a championship team though as we know . We all know a Man Utd fan who's never been to Manchester.

It’s not jealousy in the slightest. I wouldn’t change a thing. Give me our 500 or so hardcore support over jester hats, face painting and brass bands. They are just a set of glory hunting muppets.

Same here, respect to anyone who supports a championship side. It's like us and Haven ..we've got a history and.....
