Just want to see an elevated stand with seats above standing - like we have now, Leeds south stand etc - nothing worse than watching RL at ground level with about 6 rows of seats - but standing on the other 3 sides is a must.

The money saved from cheap standing areas then spent on a good club bar (money to both clubs) and a joint club shop - just want the clubs to make money from the stadium rather than just paying rent.

grass level seats u/s

I agree DP has almost 10k capacity as it stands [pre covid] so build the new "Meccano Style" stadium on there with a new stand same price but could keep the bigger capacity and lots more space to build in future

It would be a hell of a lot harder and more expensive to build on the land at DP unfortunately, the groundworks would be massive.

Again we see [today] trouble when Stadiums are in dual use .

In this case our visitors this week HALIFAX.  Arguments about the state of the Pitch at the shay.

Pitches with single use will get time to recover - well apart from us when the RFL fixture chap who must have been p****d when he done championship fixtures,

Pitches need rest [off season] if you have a soccer and a rugby team using the same pitch it will not work.

Unless of course you have a plastic pitch - which as we know is not good for ankles [ask buffer] and not good for landing on regularly.

Reds will get away with it because they dont dive as much as the prima donnas in the higher leagues but its not good for the big lads landing on a hard surface every single tackle.

We ( Fev ) got slated for our pitch against Leigh but MOST pitches have been like it these last two weeks, its February with plenty of bad weather what do they expect ?

No disrespect to any other team - just think stadiums better with grass and single use.

They have to have football for the money to help keep the Stadium viable. We let Wakefield afc use ours but you're right they should be single use. Double edged sword i suppose.

If a NEW stadium is planned properly as our original plans were - then it was all the buildings around the pitch that was going to pay for the upkeep.  We had planned office spaces, and NHS were taking a section plus there should be facilities for conferences etc and stadiums usually have catering type venues which can be hired out .

And the pitch can be shared out during the drier months.

Town had Reds ladies team playing last year during better weather.

You just cant share grounds this time of year.

We will just have to wait and see what transpires. If it is led by both clubs rather than ABC then they will make sure that they can make money out of it or it's pointless going ahead.

My only fear is that its done on the cheap and we end up with an ugly bus shelter, that is just barely fit for purpose and can't generate its own income. There's a huge opportunity to incorporate 1st class facilities that the town doesn't have, like a nice function room with outdoor space overlooking the river that could be booked out every weekend. Let's face it the trades hall, station Rd, the legion etc are all the same sort of thing.

Fingers crossed both clubs strive for something a bit special instead of making do. 🤞

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Unfortunately we all know it will be done on the cheap - 6 rows of seats at pitch level- no joint club shop and the bars not run by the clubs so they won't care about the fans.

Really hate those small tin sheeting grounds but that's what we will end up with.

Let's hope for a bit more vision than that,if you get chance look up the new south shields fc stand ,raised seating, sponsors boxes ,large bar and standing below, just hope there is some news soon because this has dragged out way too long

Cheers, had a quick look - Yes if you have some crush barriers below the seats and that stand would be perfect. Get some good bars and club shop and the 2 clubs could actually make some money.

To be honest if you had that kind of stand, and a full length terrace on the opposite side (like the popular side is now) and they went with say 6000 capacity for the opening - if it means paying for that kind of stand and staying in budget, just don't put anything behind the goals for now - they can be built over time when there is more money available and to increase capacity - (promotion, RL WC etc)

Just wonder if the powers that be actually read fans comments. Yes we all want the best but something like the above has to be in budget.

have some faith in the directors from both clubs, as said above it was stated at the reds shareholders meeting the council want NOTHING to do with the running of the new ground, it will be left up 2 a managment company which will consist of directors from reds and town and independents (6 in total, 2 of each). it was also stated it would have the facilities to generate money 7 days a week, community pitch, Conference facilities, function room etc. let's wait and see what the plans are which are due very soon and again have some faith in the directors of both clubs to delivery something positive for the town. I cant comment on the town directors but I can assure you this is the best set we have had at the reds in my time supporting the club.

I don't understand why Town needs or wants a new stadium, when all the facilities could be provided at D/P with monies being spent on refurbishment rather than investing in a new and more expensive stadium.

My opinion is that the politicians, investors, shakers & movers, must see Derwent Park as a valuable land development opportunity, surely developing Derwent Park including accommodating the Reds would be a better option.

Also ask what would happen to Derwent Park site if it was vacated for a new stadium.

The Stand with regards to boxes and the bars and toilets below and the fact its new, looks great.

But there wasn't much standing below well less than DP enclosure about 25% the size.

But the Problem is that there is only 900 seats.

So to fit SL minimum requirements you would need 2 of theses stands - but full length so there is 1000 plus in each and a bit more room for standing below.

Then you could have covered terracing on both ends to build up to the 5000 plus minimum.

If we must share then 2 x these stands [one on each side would enable both clubs to have their own offices and club shops and colours etc.

Also it needs to be done properly at the beginning because as you say it drags on too long so if either club in future get to the stage where an uplift is required for promotion - it wont happen

Thats the problem marra - we won't get a choice or a say.

Would be good if the fans from both clubs were given a say (obviously budget permitting) but as I've already said - we don't need a 100% completed stadium- just get the 2 main stands right then build the ends later when there is more money.

Would love to know who is designing the stadium- Rugby or Football fans - or an accountant?

We can't, currently us and reds are spending a lot of money just to get creditation to play at our grounds, dead money with zero chance of progress or capability to earn more money from the stadium.

It's a group involved, not sure who all of them are but it's an even spread from both clubs. I hope Dave Bowden is one involved as he has knowledge of both sports and sets of fans.

absolutely correct, and this money available from the goverment towards the ground is for a new development, no new development no money.
