Problem with that S as  a  Championship side beggars can't be choosers

Better players than him playing in The Championship. If we get promoted we can lose every match next season and still not get relegated under the stupid IMG rules.Teams on field results will be judged on more than one season.

That's a valid point to remember for 2024 if we go up.....

Jenna Brooks says he's signed for Rovers next season.

We don't need to buy in players who a barely good enough for SL for next season. If we finish bottom we won't be relegated.Get a few in for next season IF we get promoted and then more players will be coming out of contract mid season. Offer the ones we fancy decent SL contract for season 2025.Lets not end up with half a team of players who can't get a regular place in other SL teams and players nearing the end of their careers with nothing to play for.If we offer players we sign this year 2 or 3 year contracts that limits who we can bring in in 2025.But first we need to get promoted.

I've said this before on here but I think some people understimate the difficulty of our current situation (and of course that of other Championship clubs challenging for promotion) in terms of recruitment.

Whether we go up or not, we seem very likely to lose  a few players in the off-season, notably some of our older generation. let's say Kopczak, Moors, Lockwood and Hall retire or move on, maybe we might feel that given their ages we don't want to offer big contracts (and use up a quota space if we make SL) to some of our older overseas  backs such as Leilua (32 in December), Kheirallah (34 in February) or Ford (already 34).

We're not in a position to offer competitive SL contracts to quality SL players at this stage, we might still be in the Championship next season and those quality players and their agents will know that.

I think that's why most of the players that we have seen linked with us are probably players that other SL teams aren't coming in for. there just aren't going to be SL starting-quality players queueing up to sign for Fev (or Toulouse, or Bradford or Halifax etc) until they know for sure which team will be in SL next year.

Additionally, we don't know if any of our current players might have already signed elsewhere for SL teams next year. It's possible the likes of Cozza, Hankinson, and Jones could have attracted interest from SL clubs who could offer them a guaranteed full-time deal some time agio.

But with each passing week the player pool is getting smaller and we can't really afford to start recruitment in mid-October with half a squad to fill.

So if people are not especially excited when we are linked with players such as Massey, Reynolds and Minikin, that's fine, but who should we be looking at that we could realistically sign given we can't guarantee a SL place yet?

Hope we don't sign Reynolds another poor game for Leigh last night even against Wakey.Leigh supporters have not been impressed with him this season and they know their rugby players.

Never understood what Leigh see in him a championship player at best with poor defensive qualities
