Depends on who you support lad - if your team had won a few WCC you may be more up for it - your not a Penrith fan are you..🤣🤣

Take it you watch a lot of SL then for your balanced views on this matter.

Most Australia teams do take it seriously- the last 2 times its been played in Australia the host club has had its season best crowd for the WCC ( Roosters and Melbourne) - as Australia is off the global radar it was a chance for their fans to claim to be the best in the world - a rare thing in Australian sport.

A rare thing you say? Maybe we’re a lot closer to the pointy end in most sports than little old Britain

We are seeing it similarly but calling it different things... business is about innovation and necessity drives innovation, the necessity to be one step ahead drives that so that you keep your customers instead of your customers leaving to go to someone else, however, you do want your competitor to ultimately fail really.

In terms of your example they are, of course, stronger for those other teams but its because it makes the "whole" more appealing to purchase therefore expanding the knowledge of the teams etc. Without the premier league being competitive and of a high standard it would not have the tv viewers across the world that it does now and therefore the eyes on it and the purchase of merchandise etc.

However, that is a sport that is known worldwide and for which there is an audience.

If you look at other sports such as cricket or ru then are they able to sell their product into markets where the sport is not known? no. They have both, therefore, looked to other avenues to get the sport known to then be able to look at "selling" their product. 7s in the olympics will do that for RU as, and this is a guess (but i would like to think educated), more countries are probably showing the 6 nations or international matches as the appeal in countries has grown etc.

Therefore while the leagues are in competition in terms of wanting to be seen as better than the other it would be daft IMHO to consider Super League as a competitor (in the same way the Premier League may see the Bundesliga as a competitor) because a strong Super League will mean room for the NRL in the UK and France that it doesnt have at the moment, a strong international game too could do same (something i wish more would see).

If they act in the way that we are a competitor and they need to always best us and do us down (as the likes of Gus Gould do) then i don't think that is healthy.

Gus Gould is one of the smartest, most practical minds in the sport, he tells it like it is & all this talk about how we in the Southern Hemisphere need to somehow be more associated with Super league is hard to stomach given the game hasn’t gone forward or look like going forward for decades, the NRL can’t really help you much in a Football dominated environment that will never change & you can’t really help us

Yes Australia are the best at loads of sports like Football, golf, RU, darts, snooker, tennis, boxing, one day cricket, F1, touring car....etc etc 🤣🤣- you are world champions in AFL though so you do lead the rest of the world in something...well done.

Well if Saints do sign up to participate in this and the WCC then Cas will be getting their annual game of playing a Saints Reserves again 😁.

I seriously doubt Saints will fly back from Aus and then field a full strength side away at Cas the next weekend when they will be playing their first home game of the year 5 days later against Leeds. Also, depending on what happens with the CC with Saints & Hudds the 'free weekend' for internationals will probably be used by Saints to play their round 1 game against Hudds.

The thing is Saints know the WCC is a chance to put the clubs name into the history books - if they come back from Oz and lose a couple of games they know they will still probably finish in the top 2 in SL as they are well ahead of the pack.

hang on sailor, (darts & snooker 😂) only you lot could include starts & snooker & even F1 with its who’s got the best car & most money

Hows Football going for England, you have to look back v further than in rugby league for a win, as for Golf, I think we were doing quite nicely until that other ###### tour came along, Tennis we’re traditionally the second most successful nation ever, little old Australia, fancy that eh as for Boxing, things are looking up, & we’ve had our fair share for a small nation & id be expecting a few more world champs soon, don’t even mention Cricket 😂 & Rugby Union despite it being minor here, we still have more world cups than little Britain

Touring car? We have our own very successful, lucrative touring car circuit

We just flogged you in Netball & Men & Womens Basketball we’re top 5 in the world in both & that’s probably the second biggest team sport in the world?

And gee, the Commonwealth games didn’t go too well for Little Britain

Ahhhh you poms 😂

😂 true, which is unusual, you usually do that when you want to maximise returns, it’s a wonder you haven’t tried to rope Ireland in, it’d be a hard sell but it’s been done before at the pointy end of a gun

So I’ve noticed, there seems to be a rather large Philip Ronald Gould “fan club” on this board

Where he’s been an integral member & advocate within a pretty successful NRL, he’s had not much to do with British Rugby League, but he calls a spade a spade, perhaps that’s what you find confronting

No he calls a spade a fork then carries on doing it hoping people will fall for it.. and sadly many aussies seem to... what he is peddling is twaddle and opinion based on twaddle.. very little is fact or even based on fact... all the utter tosh he tramped out before, what should have been, a great 2021 world cup last year was going against scientific fact and against the fact other teams from australia were travelling well and happily (just as one example) but that has been done to death on this board so i dont intend going around again on that..

he is a large wind bag, we have Garry Schofield who is exactly the same and sadly the press give them both far too much credence and coverage..

I love how you all get triggered by Gus, he’s primarily involved with the NRL, he makes commentary in the Australian media, it’s hard to see why you’re all so worked up

He's usually dead right, you all have to realise that we’re not here at your beck & call, the most important thing to the NRL & ARL is the game in Australia, you’re all desperately trying to prop up your dying game & it’s not for us to try & help at the expense of our game

I dont think many get triggered by him... when you know someone is talking garbage its fine, like schofield... to say he is dead right when he is proven to be factually wrong so often just sums you up to be honest.

anyway, have a good night this is circular and not worth the time.

Golf - Cam Smith 2022 British Open

Snooker - Noel Robertson ranked #2

Darts - Aus 2022 team World Champs

Tennis - Ash Barty 2022 Aus Open

Cricket - World #1 Tests current

Winter Olympics - 2022 smashed team GB

F1 isn’t a sport, so not worth talking about.

Rugby League - 2022 ?????

Has been a pretty good year for Aus hasn’t it?

This is good advice that I have already failed to follow elsewhere.

It is good advice though.

You have an argument, but I see it differently to you.

Competition is a good thing. With competition, grows public product awareness and interest.

Any strong company will tell you that competitors are healthy for their own businesses. But it doesn’t mistake the fact that they are competitors.

For example, Manchester United are so much stronger for their competition with Man City and Liverpool. Without those competitors, they would be less of an entity.

Same can be said for the value McDonalds and KFC add to each other by being competitors. McDonalds won’t be sharing many secrets with KFC, nor doing them any favours, but, McDonalds certainly wouldn’t want KFC to go bust.

Therein lies the relationship between the NRL and The RFL/SL.

Can't belive the key point to your argument is the strength of Man United 🤣🤣
