I would agree the BBC have done a wonderful job of coverage; the women’s, PDRL and Wheelchair game has certainly benefitted, my argument is the coverage and discussion generated by and England Australia final would have been far greater for the sport and reached a non-core audience. Instead, the final will register little beyond the core audience. An opportunity lost.

But that’s sport isn’t it?

England getting to the final and beating Australia would have been great, but we weren’t good enough.

I agree but now the final is going to be an embarrassment. 50-0 at least and a half full stadium. Well done Samoa thought they deserved that and we flaked again. Think I’m done with it, we’ll be even worse in 3 years. The game in the northern hemisphere needs 15 years of significant investment if we’re going to make it worthwhile.

I'd like to call that a hysterical overreaction. But it's not that far off how I feel tbh.

It was strange. As was keeping McIlorum on for so long and giving Mcmeeken such a short stint when he was beginning to create problems. Burgess was blasting holes like no other. Very odd decision. Maybe there are things we’re not aware of

It’s the same tactic he played all tournament. McIllorum for 60, Radley throwing carrier bags for 20. McMeeken is garbage, what problems was he causing other than for his own team? Seriously.

Jeez lighten up a bit, England didn’t have a devine right to be in the final for thr greater good.

The thing is, sports like football or, yes, even RU to an extent, have so much more wiggle room in terms of this. For example, Brazil could win the next 5 world cups and it wouldn't significantly damage the game.

We really don't have that luxury.

It might be but it’s frustrating. I could feel this coming, we’re a small sport with a small mentality over here. I’ve loved Shaun Wane during this tournament but he lost it today, angry every time the camera was on him, taking blokes off because he was mad not for tactical reasons.

We had it too easy up to this point.

Who said they did? Do you thrive in disappointment? I’m angry because I care and we’re in the same position again. Why don’t you fire up about how good the organizers are.

If he could pick a class player like Williams when his club form wasn't at its best then I don't see why he couldn't pick a class player like Clark too?

I've always been a fan of Mcllorum and would have had him in in years gone by but I thought his best days were behind him and was surprised by his choice.

I’m not debating this. I noted in my original post (pg. 49) that this is sport and all part of the experience. However i do lament the failure of British/ English rugby league to grasp opportunities to inspire and grow engagement/ enthusiasm around the game.

In this instance because we didn’t show up - subsequently beaten by the better team, this in contrast to 2013 where we turned up against NZ, were evenly matched only to be undone by a piece of individual brilliant.

I assume you are a long term RL fan. And if so, you might know thats completely not what I mean.

I'm personally delighted for Samoa. I'm also devastated that England RL have failed when it matters.... again.

There's only so many of these hammer blows you can take before you think....."maybe I'll pass".

England just didn't perform and paid the price, as NZ did at home in 2017 against Fiji. England have no one to blame but themselves for what happened today.

We all want a more competitive international RL scene and it seems weird to moan when that comes to fruition.

I said in the first game that Clarke would have been perfect to come on and have a crack at a team like Samoa but as I pointed out at the time Clarke isn’t from nor has never played for Wigan

I am a long term RL fan 40+ years.

But snd Ive said it s few times i’m not overly patriotic so maybe that’s why my emotions aren’t running that high.

i wanted us to win, of course I did but I don’t think its the massive disaster people are making out, in fact Samoa making the final is a big step for international RL.

How many years did it take for the England football team to make a final.l? Decades. Yet the fans were still there. The fans that we have will still be there, and there will still be fans to attract in the future. No need for such hysterics. Today was stil a disappointment nonetheless.

You didn’t and you’re thriving on the defeat. It’s embarrassing.

I’ve no interest in club dogma at this point. He probably would have but that question was never asked, you’ve taken the national teams lowest point to promote your clubs player

Boy, how much did we miss the distribution of James Roby today.  There were so many times the English first receivers were reaching over their heads or having to adjust their body position to take a pass... with the laser like passing of Roby the attack such an advantage.

I was critical of him not putting his hand up but if we fans are fed up with missing out then maybe he is even more so.

I'm not particularly patriotic. I'm thinking of the game first and foremost.
