Which RL player would you like an autobiography from?

Rugby league autobiographies are more interesting when they are open up about their flaws.

I keep reading Coming Clean by Terry Newton although he had a heartbreaking and tragic end the rapport he had with ghost writer Phil Wilkinson is something else.

There are also a few hilarious stories about his antics at Leeds.

I found Longs a really poor read. Brian Bevans is a cracker and if they had a book, Jim Mills or John Woods would be interesting reads.

Long's is a poor read more in the sense it is badly written but it is enjoyable and funny ...I did read.most of it from a sun lounger and beers though

l believe there was a book about Tom Mitchell and the rise of Workington Town but l could never find it.He was a true pioneer of the British game and l think he was  on the 1958 GB tour to Australia and New Zealand as manager. It would be great if it could be re published.

I think it depends what you're looking for in an autobiography or biography. There are some that are all lads, lagers, nightclubs and debauchery, then there are the ones that go the opposite direction. There's a biography of Billy Boston that's so dry, you don't get much of a sense of the person at all.

Finding the middle ground can be tricky, even with the help of a good ghost-writer.

Probably one of the greatest players of all time but I do find listening to Ellery hard work. He comes across as overly analytical in everything he does. Whilst that made/makes him the player and person he is I don’t find it very entertaining. He’s also very deliberate in his delivery and I can’t ever recall seeing an interview with him where he lets his emotions get the better of him. I couldn’t imagine him letting his hair down after a game although I’m sure he did. A book of the same would be a very hard read IMO. Brett Kenny was another brilliant player but I couldn’t even finish his autobiography it was that dull.

I guess a factor is whom writes it for them or the publishing house support and the way they tease the story out...  Not many actually pen or need to pen the words themselves.
