That's fine, I've seen the rfl Website. But that doesn't excuse the lack of communication from the club directly via social media about the squad.

Don't worry as per-usual  it will be on the x thingy soon enough

For two or three years now the club's social media have only tended to give out squad news on the Friday evening, including for regular-season games, so this isn't anything new, especially for a pre-season game.

Indeed, at a very similar time to the last two or three seasons.
Tomlinson confirmed as having signed for the season in the linked story. perhaps Farrar has too given he's not described as a triallist.
Detailed write-ups on all the "unknown" new players. Excellent work by the club there imo.

Dunno, but as you say he featured heavily in the training video that was only published yesterday, so maybe he picked up a minor knock or something.

Confirmed on the club website that he picked up an injury in training on Wednesday.

8 trialists / amateur players.

Surely it's obvious we're in a transition stage? It's well documented that we are on half the budget of last year and having managed to retain nine or ten of last year's squad plus a handful of ex-SL additions for next season, we don't have a lot of spare cash left and are having to fill the gaps with some cheaper players, plus DR.

Remeber the last time we were in a similar position, at the end of 2018? We played 10 triallists in our first 2019 pre-season friendly at Castleford, and lost 56-0 against a Cas team that was largely composed of fringe or academy players. The doom and gloom brigade were out in force after that game and I suspect it will be the same after Sunday's game (which we may well lose heavily) but it had very little to do with how we fared in 2019, when we went on to reach the final, and this Sunday's game won't be anything like a proper indication of how we'll go in 2024.

We're obviously a bit thin at the moment in terms of depth, but let's keep a bit of perspective.

Sam hassard is a new name noones talked about in pre season, labelled as a utility back so maybe see him at full back rotating with young Harris

He has been playing with Ionians so will be another who has been recommended that we have a look at by their ex-coach Steadman (the other being Manoa Wacokecoke).

Would cost them. Club captain, local lad, and Fordy had tried to sign him three times previously. Tell them he's theirs for £1million imo.

Super League clauses are quite common.  We'll probably get next to nowt.

That's true T but I would be surprised if he hadn't got  some SL offers before he chose FEV

Most Championship players have a SL release clause. It all depends on whether Ben Reynolds wants one last go at SL I guess.

Can't think of too many players that we have lost mid-season due to SL release clauses at Fev, we managed to hang on to James Harrson until the end of his 2-year contract for instance, even though it was widely known that teams were interested in him from about halfway through his first year. Also, as POR alludes to above, at the recent fans forum we were told that some of our new signings chose to come to us even though they had SL offers on the table.

That said, we certainly aren't swimming in money at the moment so it's possible the club could be open to a persuasive offer, especially as, unlike Hull KR whose quota is full, we could look at the Australian market. We'll see.

Funny thing if he went to HKR would probably be third choice behind Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May so back to FEV on DR:kolobok_laugh1:
