Tbh I think you guys are getting a better all round player, he's matured over the last couple seasons and will be a great asset for you. Personally gutted to see him leave but was always going to happen.

Already started on their own forum: Two weeks ago, top of this thread he was a top end Championship prop worth a £15000-£20000 transfer fee. Now he's gone...well, he was rubbish anyway, hardly played last season etc etc.

They can be very fickle up in Corkickle.

One person has made a comment. Think you’ll find the vast majority of Haven fans will be sorry to see Tom leave. For many of us it was inevitable but we were  clinging to a thread hoping he may come back but wasn’t to be. Tom is a quality prop forward and your gain is our loss. Don’t tar us all based on the comments of one person.

Not looking good for either team according to the bookies.

Really.  Top end agree well top 2 anyway.  I think , because of the now squad, we will be top 8 easily  Tom Walker is a massive plus but the squad is looking good barring injuries of course. Just need in my opinion another good hooker .

Admire your optimism but I don’t agree. I think the 4 at the bottom of the odds will be the 4 at the bottom of the league come season end but not sure what order.

Keighley were 12/1 last year, Sheffield were 40/1 and London were 50/1. I'm pretty sure the year we came 4th we were 2nd favourites to go down so I wouldn't go off the bookies too much.

Breaking down who we have lost and signed I think we are slowly building a squad better than last year.

We lost Brooks and Evans but replaced them with Silva and Walker, that's an upgrade.

We lost Langtree but replaced with James Greenwood, that's an upgrade.

We lost Worthington but replaced with Costello, as a centre that's an upgrade.

We lost Jack Wells and replaced with Brad Walker, Wells probably a better player but he barely played last season.

Saunders, Archer and Corkill went but they aren't good enough for the championship, if we are desperate we would be better putting a Furness Raider in. Sam Clarke has replaced Corkill affectively.

What we haven't replaced is Sammut and Mossop, if we can get a decent 6 and back up 9 (preferably a running 9) I think our squad is looking fairly decent.

Signed on;

Broadbent, Creswell, Carter, Shaw, S.Toal, Bulman, Costello, Clarke, Johnston, Jackson, Wood, Burke, Silva, Gillam, Greenwood, Stack, Emeslie, D.Toal, Wilkinson.

That leaves us with 19 if as expected Brad Walker and Sam Dowsett sign that's 21. Desperately in need of a 6 not convinced Jackson or Walker are champ level 6s. Also need at least another 2 props (hopefully Tom Walker is one)

Broadbent, Creswell, Carter, Shaw, S.Toal, Bulman, Costello, Clarke, Johnston, B.Walker, Jackson, Wood, Burke, Silva, T Walker, Gillam, Greenwood, Stack, Emeslie,  Wilkinson.

Updated, 20 signed on. Presumably if D.Toal testimonial goes well he'll sign on giving us 21. I'd love to see a 9 signed, a out and out 6 and another prop forward and I don't think we have a bad squad.

Don't know how they work them odds out , Dewsbury will be rock bottom ,think haven have recruited quite well tbh ,Swinton made couple of good recruits but lost best 4 players ,think based on players lost Widnes will be down the bottom end ,Donny few good recruits but squad still vast majority from last season, think batley could massively struggle having lost numerous key players ,think were in for another anyone could beat anyone season, bar Wakefield,i think they'll practically wallop everyone

Will Brad Walker not be playing #6 and not #13. Understand he plays both positions, somewhat different roles I might add. Otherwise, Jackson will be our starting stand-off. Right now seems Cresswell will be the #9 sub.

Potentially although I'm not sure if that's his best position.

Cresswell did a job at 9 but Hooker is very specialist role. He tackled well and distributed okay but you could tell the team suffered when Wood went off.

As an outsider looking in, you wouldn't want Brad Walker at 6 regularly. He's a good 13 and arguably he could be your second 9. Before we signed him from Wakefield he was playing 9 from the bench for them.

One thing that yoyo-ing between the 2nd and 3rd tier over the last ten years should have taught us is the need to have an experienced No.6 at this level.

Not sure Jackson and Walker are the answer in that regard and I'm hoping Father Christmas has a surprise in store for us.

Absolutely spot on here. We need a crafty halfback to prize open defences

We had one in Sammutt !!! Could only be financed that stopped us re signing him

He did underperformed at times last season as well and he would've wanted a fair wedge to stay

Going off what we’ve got I’d go with the following

Broadbent

Shaw

S Toal

Costello

Bulman

B Walker

Johnston

T Walker

Wood

Gillam (when fit)

Emslie

Stack

Wilkinson

Subs Silva, Burke, Greenwood, Cresswell (till another hooker comes in).

Well tell me his better replacement ? A maverick yes, mad at times but could he unlock a defence from nothing ??? And who is out there to replace him. ? How many tries did he create when he underperformed
