England got progressively worse as the game went on and were a bit fortunate to get through but there's something totally exhilarating about England winning a penalty shoot out, I feel like I'm on cloud 9 and I'm gunna get drunk.

Saka showed some real guts to step up after what he went through after the last Euro's and so did the other 3 black players, knowing what was to come if they missed.

Netherlands-Turkey bringing some much needed chaos so far.

I never gave a second thought to the colour of the penalty takers.

A better performance from England. The system seemed to work well with two 'number 10's' and two sat in behind allowing us to play all 4 midfielders in their best positions.

Shaw being able to play some minutes is a real boost as there's still a bit of an issue with the way Trippier plays. Not trusting his left foot just makes him really easy to defend against. Saka may be left footed on the right hand side but he's still willing to take his man on and try to whip in a cross with his weaker foot if necessary. Not having a left footed centre back holds us back too because one of the natural fixes for this would be to do what Switzerland do and have the left centre back make overlapping runs.

It's still frustrating that Southgate seems to wait until something forces him to make a substitution rather than being proactive and trying to change the game. You could argue his methods worked because we're through, but relying on penalties shouldn't be a tactic. We should be looking to turn the tide before we end up going behind, rather than being happy with pulling a goal back once we have.

I was so pleased for Saka. Overall, we were very confident taking the pens.

I agree, it's the best way to win but I don't want to do it again.

I want the Netherlands, revenge for 1993!

Me too, it would be funny if Southgate trips Koeman on the touch line and only gets a yellow card.

We got that in 1996.

Anyone else old enough to remember this? #justsaying.

Not only do I remember it but I remember a young lad from Turkey writing to Roy of the Rovers saying how he knew that Turkey would never be good at soccer - Roy Race called it soccer, as did pretty much everyone in the magazine - but that we in England should know that people like him would always love the game.

Not sure why that letter stuck with me when I've forgotten most of the others.

Yeah I loved how after Robsons first goal a player came over and shock his hand. 😂

Ronald Koeman?

I just feel we need to beat Turkey to avenge ... I mean, there must be something from the Crusades we need to get one back for, right?

Can anyone explain to me how England can continually turn attacking positions into a pass back to the keeper? It baffles me every time.

WhatsApp autocorrects it to that every time I type it.

Even if I'm talking about Christmas lunch.

Your chance for revenge just got that little bit closer.

DO I NOT LIKE THAT

(I actually think it's better for England to play the Dutch than Turkey)
