Cheers, great to see and especially the emotion at the end. Shame about the injuries. Was surprised at Brazil as Argentina have a way larger rugby (union) population to draw from. Just goes to show that League is far more do-able for fledgling nations with no line-outs, scrums or rucks to worry about as shown by the Brazilian women at the World Cup.

Argentina’s 6 looked very handy, I thought.

I believe there’s only 4/5 clubs in Argentina so there’s so much more quality in RU that they simply haven’t tapped into yet.

I would have liked to see the Brazil women's side at the next WC because they showed a lot of promise but not to be. Possibly yet another opportunity to expand the game spurned but it's about the money or lack of it that kills expansion.

I'm enjoying this match. I'm even more chuffed that it's actually going on, as I've said before, all on their own dime. They are demonstrating that they don't need us, to make it happen. Us who can't make it happen on our own doorstep!

One early comment on the players - I can see that they have had some exposure to RaRa by the time it takes to form a scrum.

It's as though they see it as an opportunity to stop, take a breather,  maybe discuss politics, swap family photo's and/or complain about their wives.

Otherwise, like you said Magpie, its very entertaining.

This is what I mean about Rugby League in general, there are Argentinian people asking where this was played and why they didn't know about it!!

Yet the Union team fill out their national stadium against Italy in a friendly. I bet if the league game was played before the union one, there would be far more people coming away thinking 'wow league was a far better, faster game to watch'

The level wasn't great, but the effort, commitment and pride on show was pleasing.

Well done to those involved.

Good to see it wasn’t in Australia with a load of Aussie players of South American heritage too.

That’s what seems to pass as international RL for some these days.

Thanks but despite the great comeback this seemed really dull compared to the first match. Just seemed to be no atmosphere this time for whatever reason.

but what?

RL finds ways to kill expansion or just lets it wither on the vine.

Thanks for the heads up on this series. I would have not reaslied it was on otherwise. I did a summary piece on my RL blog (the link below) but it's a basic summary.

Wasn't it 32-26 to Argentina?

I thought Chile had some nice long-range strike up the middle, but the bigger bodies for the Argentinians allowed them to get field position and get on top in the second half.

32-28 actually but appreciate you pointing out I had it wrong.

There are some big boys in those sides. The rucks are a bit messy but not a biggie.

I'm surprised about Chile as Argentina has a much stronger RU history. I thought that may have given them some benefit as I assume most of the players if not all have played RU.

Mitch Black and Nick Doberer (Australian based Chileans) we’re the difference between the two sides. You could tell they’d both played a higher standard and it showed.

It’s great to see this competition being played. Are there any other countries who are going to be able to join in the near future?

Could it be linked to the North American competition in some way?
