georgeb1 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Just hoping to see us build on a much improved defensive display last w/e , cut out the unforced errors and tighten up on discipline then we might just be a force to be reckoned with this Sunday. 2

Plus Liam should be back to create some space for the rest of the backs and maybe let Hingano concentrate on what he does best (and I don't mean rough up the opposition, even though he does do that rather well ) . I think I would go with :- DAGGER FERREIRA DEE EDWARDS BUCHANAN HARRIS HINGANO MARTIN PEMBERTON SANTI GANNON FIELD THOMPSON MCSHANE TEANBY FITZSIMMONS POTTER Edited February 28 by Expatknight 1
only 2 weeks away Posted February 28 Posted February 28 nah..... dagger buchanan, edwards, field, ferreira harris, potter santi, pembo, martin, gannon, dee, tommo cook, clark, reynolds, bailey think both jack and fitz had niggles last week, give mcshane and ata a week off. 1895 is irrelevant given our start to the season, think its time we saw pembo (and potter) given a chance 1

I do agree Pembo and Potter need to be given a chance which is why I would start with him and have either Mcshane or Cook on the bench just in case ( I went with Mcshane on this occasion) and Potter on the interchange.
Gav Wilson Posted February 28 Posted February 28 The Caravan Cup is absolutely not irrelevant considering how close we are in the IMG gradings. 3 @GavWilson

Thought us not getting to the final last year helped our league campaign and we are in a similar situation to last year with our injury problems, but saying that would love the knights to get to Wembley. 1

As far as i know all apart from antrobus will be back very soon , so hopefully still play our strongest team in the 1895 cup.
Expatknight Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) Better performance from the Knights, I think the score line flattered Fax, their tries came from 4 errors, Pembo looked good when he came on and a try to boot, best not to mention Potter too much but he did take his try well, got to feel for the kid as he got a bit of stick from one or two in the crowd , I think Martin might pick up a few more points at the disciplinary. Hingano and Harris looked good again. For Fax , I don’t know what Konrad Hurrell brings, for most of the time he looked liked he was just doing what he had to and no more. Next week will be interesting , especially after the two bouts of fisticuffs today. Entertaining game to watch and the Knights never looked like losing. Edited March 2 by Expatknight 3
DEANO Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Was disappointed we couldn’t defend our line from the 2 bombs dropped by the fullback. Take that away and the interception and we’d have won more comfortably. Levi santi thommo and mcshane were immense. Since when can you back chat a ref when you knock on. Hurrell a waste of space. Had a clear run at the line in the last minute but passed it way above the winger 1 sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward
Puk Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Loads better today in attack and thoroughly deserved the win and the margin should have been a lot more, felt sorry for potter who was playing at full back and maybe should have gone into the halves with Liam Harris going to full back in the second half, again our discipline let us down in the last few minutes. 1
georgeb1 Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Encouraging, all worked for each other , cooky immense at loose forward , also a mention to harvey Reynolds who looked strong all game , just hope Fax tidy up their foul play for next weekend. 4

With the conditions being dryer and firmer underfoot (and a little bit less windy), it made today's game so much more enjoyable to watch. Thought York started much more positively going forward than recently and with Harris back in the half back pairing, everything looked so much more fluid - Halifax guilty of making the errors that had been blighting York in recent games. A big effort from McShane to chase the kicker down at a last play early on set the tone and then York looked untroubled for much of the first half. I agree, Reynolds was really solid throughout - and even Potter's handling looked quite assured early on debuting at Full Back. His confidence just drained away though with every error afterwards and his interchange was sadly unavoidable - I just hope he's able to put the errors today behind him and come back stronger when he gets his next chance. Great to see Pemberton finally given some game time and a strong team performance managed to carry them through to the relatively comfortable win at the end. It will be interesting to see how the Disciplinary panel view the final melee(s) and who will be available for both sides in round 2 of the bout next week - The late altercations have certainly set up the Championship game nicely though! 2

That's a fair summary S.K., just as I saw it, every word. The only thing I would add is I hope Levi keeps going the way he is, getting better every game after his 2 years out. 1

Levi has the makings of an outstanding player, bearing in mind the last two games he has been on the wing when really he is a centre, not that it seems to matter these days, but you would never know he had been out of the game for the best part of two years. Pembo is another who, when he plays, always gives 100% and looks like he has a bit of pace and is creative. When we get a couple of the others back especially Dagger, Brown, Ward and TA’AI we will be a force to be reckoned with. I know TA’AI is getting on a bit but he brings experience and a calm head when you need to settle the ship. 1
Simon Hall Posted March 3 Posted March 3 So much better yesterday, just shows how much difference it makes not giving away penalties and silly errors, means the defence isn't having to work overtime. Think there was only 1 penalty and 1 handling error in the first half which showed by the score. Really good attacking performance too considering no out and out wingers or full back. Hopefully we'll get some players back soon in their proper positions. Had to feel for Jack Potter, full back is an unforgiving position if you get something wrong, especially when you're a half-back who hasn't played many games at this level, whereas a prop can drop a ball or a centre can miss a tackle and no-one bats an eyelid. Think Mash did the right thing swapping him for Liam Harris though as Fax had obviously found something to exploit, hopefully it doesn't damage his confidence as he looks a promising young half-back, good to see all the other players rallying round him. Looking forward to next week, hopefully continue where we left off. 4 http://www.alldesignandprint.co.uk Printing & Graphic Design with Nationwide Service Programmes | Leaflets | Cards | Banners & Flags | Letterheads | Tickets | Magazines | Folders | Brand Identity plus much more Official Matchday Programme Print & Design Partner to York City Knights, Heworth ARLFC, York Acorn RLFC & Hunslet RLFC Official Player Sponsor of Marcus Stock for the 2020 Season

Konnie did contribute to the moment of the day late in the game, when the handbagging went off. He scurried around the back of the huddle and pulled fellow Tongan international and pal, Ata Hingano's hair from behind him and the two of them cracked up laughing. Lovely stuff. 3
JonT Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Highlights up on the 'Fax Youtube channel. Nowt wrong with that disallowed Edwards try. 1
