18-55mm lens is just the job - very versatile

Happy photography!

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Looks like Canon are set to launch a new entry level DSLR, not sure what the price in the UK is going to be, but the functionality seems to be a hybrid of the 400D and 450D with a couple of comprimises along the way.

Looks a good camera. Not sure why anyone would buy a 450D in preference to it thought? unsure.gif

I am going to collect my lovely new farcically expensive Nikkor lens on my way home.

I am also going to be eating bread and water for lunch for the next few months.

A photography forum of our own!!

What do you all reckon on a photography thread on here? Maybe somewhere we can post our photos, ask advice, compare cameras, ask questions etc. Nothing too highbrow or arty-f&rty, just somewhere likeminded people who like photography or want to learn more can go and have a laugh and maybe learn off each other... yes or no? What do you think?

I've only got the kit lens with the 450d, and very good it is too... but, I'm thinking of something with a bit more punch, price is always a consideration, but, depends if the urge gets the better of me ph34r.gif

I think the thread's an excellent idea. Get it started, Mr Townie!

Although if artsifartiness is banned then I may struggle.

Seconded... I'm not good enough for some of the more 'serious' photography forum's out there and it would be nice to post some pictures withough ridicule! smile.gif

I would imagine it depends on price, if there is a big difference then the Rebal would suit.

Would it be easier to make this thread the photo one?

How about a TRL Flickr group? Or would that be a step to far in copying RL FANS?!?!?

The 450D kit lens is an IS lens though, is it not??

That's exactly what I did, and I've been learning how to use it ever since!! smile.gif I must big it up again though, get a copy of Understanding Exposure as mentioned earlier in the thread!!! It's probably more valuable than the camera itself in terms of what it'll teach you, and it'll cost you a fraction of the price (about 15)!! smile.gif

I'll put a few on ...

According to views and favourties, this is my most popular pic on Flickr. It was taken last November at Smithfield Market, central London.

But - I think, my mood changes on this - that this is my own favourite. This is from London's South Bank in February.

And to annoy Townie, here's an arty rugby one I simply call "Try".

More coming soon!

And you'll all be thrilled to learn that I am now part of the credit crunch as I mortgaged my granny to get the Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 last night. Hopefully will get an outing at St Albans on the weekend.
