Wendall Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Engage Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that following investigations and specialist review England captain Jamie Peacock will require a ligament reconstruction of his knee and will miss the rest of this season. http://www.therhinos.co.uk/news/14721.php Bad luck for Peacock, he deserves to play at Wembley but goes to show how unlucky some top class players are in never making it to the hallowed turf. Also a bit of a blow for England. I know we have great depth in the pack but Peacock has always shone at Test level and would have been skipper too.

(debatable) so gives mcnamanamrnamaner a chance to try youth instead.... of course in reality i fully expect a call up for.................................................. mark o'meley who must qualify for england in some way, surely..
Kenilworth Tiger Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 ######! ###### indeed - one of the stars of SUperleague for a long time and one of the nicest honest genuine fellas. Killer for him to miss Wembley, I was looking forward to seeing him go up against Morley (and beating him) Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in. I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

1976PMJwires Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I'm gutted for Peacock. All these years he has put his body on the line for club and country, years of fitness training in the off season to keep in peak condition and he now misses a cup final. life is cruel, very cruel, good luck with recovery JP.
deluded pom? Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 of course in reality i fully expect a call up for.................................................. mark o'meley who must qualify for england in some way, surely.. Nah, O'Meley must have some Irish blood in him with that name so what we do is we let him play for Ireland in the first round of the EC and then get him to pledge his future to England. Simples.
Wolford6 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 No Peacock, no Burgess ... Lauititi will have to step up his game. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
Big Col Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Unlucky for Peacock, but he his too big and honest to go crying about it. He will take it on chin. Players like him are very lucky indeed and always realise no matter how down in the dumbs you become it is only a game..... I now make Warrington slight favourites, Leeds cant afford for anymore forwards getting injured this Fri against Catalans. Leeds will have to depend on alot of game time from both Lauitti and Eastwood who haven't played many minutes between them, Bailey pretends to be tough behind Peacock. Ablett, Kirk, Leulei & Sinny step up for the game of your lifes.........
ArmchairRhino Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) It's only a Challenge Cup final. Bluey should throw Peacock out there if he's up for it and see how he goes. Edited August 16, 2010 by ArmchairRhino There's no dignity in plastic seats
Stan Doffarf Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It's only a Challenge Cup final. Bluey should throw Peacock out there if he's up for it and see how he goes. Wouldn't surprise me, given the kind of physical trauma Jamie's played through in the past. And when they found our shadows Grouped around the TV sets They ran down every lead They repeated every test They checked out all the data on their lists And then the alien anthropologists Admitted they were still perplexed But on eliminating every other reason For our sad demise They logged the only explanation left This species has amused itself to death No tears to cry no feelings left This species has amused itself to death
terrywebbisgod Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wouldn't surprise me, given the kind of physical trauma Jamie's played through in the past. He did it earlier in the season, we saw him on the Saturday morning with his leg in a protective cast, only for him to be playing that afternoon, against Wigan in the cup I think. Thank you for your valuable contribution.
3owls Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 In a season of seemingly continuous injuries this one is the icing on the *ucki* cake. The last four days have brought home to leeds particulary and other teams supporters what a dangerous game this is and how the players earn every penny of their wages. There's never a good age for having a knee reconstruction and there's gonna be some long hard months in front of Jamie, i just wonder if we'll ever see the same player again when he comes back. good luck to the fella.
shrek Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wish him a speedy recovery, a player I've a lot of time for. Hope he's back with a vengeance in the near future.
amm Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 What a sickner for him, I wish him a speedy recovery Whilst I do not suffer fools gladly, I will always gladly make fools suffer A man is getting along on the road of wisdom when he realises that his opinion is just an opinion
FullFat Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It's a shame for both Peacock and Burgess but maybe Burgess being younger will have another chance later in his career. Hopefully both will be back fully fit at the start of next season but it's bad for Leeds, bad for England and for both players. Leed's other players will have to step up but they did that earlier in the season against us so it's still game on for the final.
Old Frightful Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 No speedy recovery sadly. Out for 8 months according to Sky text. Which means he'll miss the first two months of next season at least. Sickening news for him, hope he comes back fitter than ever. One of my favourite players even though he plays for Leeds. Hull FC : The City of Hull's only back to back Wembley RL Cup winners...
bendyas Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 If it's a succesful operation and he rehabs well, it could prolong his career. He's probably not had a decent rest / pre-season in 10+ years.

RP London Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Agree with most of what you say but interviews well? In what Language? firstly everything is relative.. secondly.. if you get him on a normal day i always think he is very good.. when they catch him at the end of a match and he is running on adrenaline etc he is terrible as he gabbles etc.. but when he is in a studio etc he always seems pretty good to me.

And then try comparing them to interviews on tape from when he first broke through at Bradford. To say he's come on leaps and bounds since then is a vast understatement! Bulliac Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 It's disappointing for JP to miss the final and I feel sorry for him to be honest, due to the period he's been at the top of the game, Wembley hasn't been available, and to miss this one must be doubly disappointing. You don't always get what you deserve, sadly. No team is an island......................................... http://www.flickr.com/photos/31337109@N03/
