I think Leigh are running with a 25 man squad and with 2 of those being kids, & now McNally being out for months, it makes sense to bring a good utility player in,Smith obviously fits the bill nicely.

If he had signed for Hull it would barely of made the papers and been considered a squad signing as cover.

 

Leigh sign him and suddenly he is the new Billy Slater and must have cost a fortune surely taking Leigh over the much increased Salary Cap.
