What Memories We Make: the Complete Mainman Recordings 1971-4 by Dana Gillespie.

Mainman records was a label established by David Bowie and this is a really interesting compilation of tracks recorded by Dana Gillespie from her "discovery" by Bowie. The early material is Bowie-esque but by the end of the compilation the tracks have morphed into the raunchy blues that Gillespie has generally recorded since. Recommended.

"Carrying on the best I can,

But that ain't sayin' much,

As most of my weight's still leaning on a crutch.

So I beg myself to just be brave,
though it seems I'll never start.
'Cause it's the new kind of lonely that weighs heavy on my heart.
Oh, it's the new kind of lonely that weighs heavy on my heart,"

This has just been on the radio. Never heard it before. What a piece of music.

Maybe we should do our own desert island discs?

6 topics, 6 records.

First Record

What record got you into your genre.

What record impressed you most (not favourite)?

Most underrated band?

What do you want played at your funeral?

Favourite tune?

1. Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep

2. Catch a fire, Marley

3. Blue Monday, I nearly wore the groove away.

4. UB40, I know they are now 2 cover bands, but they made some really good music.

5. Lee Marvin, I was born under a wandering star.

6. Gorillaz, Dare, or Prince, Kiss
