Kenilworth Tiger
Gary Belcher David Plange Richie Blackmore Michael Shenton St John Ellis John Joyner Danny Orr Kevin Ward Wayne Bartrim Danny Nutley Dale Fritz Ronnie Gibbs Tawera Nikau Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in. I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens. That'd be one hell of a team to watch if you assembled them in their prime. Interesting that none of the Wigan selections so far have included Brett Kenny. I remember 2GB had a phone-in on all-time best selections. One guy rang in with his selection for the Hunter Mariners. Brigg Rover
I can't contribute to this thread as I don't have a favourite team at the moment. Even the greatest World cup footballing nation on Earth get knocked out as soon as I draw them in the bloody sweep. It ain't that bad, a win on Thursday and you will be the happiest bunny going! Brigg Rover
1. George Fairbairn 2. Garry Clarke 3. Steve Hartley 4. Gary Prohm 5. Greg Austin 6. Roger Millward 7. Paul Harkin 8. Mark Broadhurst 9. David Watkinson 10.Zook Ema 11.Paul Fletcher 12.Len Casey 13.Gavin Miller Subs 14.Gordon Smith 15.Paul Rose 16.Stanley Gene 17.Wayne Jackson Would have loved to have seen Paul Harkin's kicking game with the 40-20 rule. Think we would have spent a hell of a lot of time in the oppositions 20 to say the least! The only problem I had was trying to find someone with a name begining with G to play 3 then we would really have been in business.

Dave T
It is interesting that most people have not selected current players in their teams. Is the reason simply that we haven't seen their full career pan out yet, or that players used to be better, or is it though nostalgic glasses where everything seemed better? I ask, because I think I feel exactly the same! The bloke has been dire at times for us, really one of the worst players I have seen, and his surly manner hardly won me over. Even when King was ###### you could see that he was an honest bloke, trying his heart out, and it just wasn't working for him. With Monas, I didn't get that feeling. He is now one of the best 9's running round in the comp and has signed a new contract and seems a new person. He will undoubtedly go down as a great signing for us, but I can't help but have that little bit of resentment towards him. Probably unfairly, but that's tough as it's how I feel. sam
Why reluctantly with Monas sam? it's to do with the lack of quality we've had in that position over the years. i've been watching warrington since the mid 90's and in that time we've never had an above average hooker, clarke is a good, honest pro but just lacks that certain something to take him to the next level, i'm pleased he's moved more into the pack as i think he's more suited there. before him, i can't remember who played there with any distinction. monaghan, is clearly a cut above most hookers in sl, he knows when to pass and when to run and the fact he does both well confuses defences. plus he kicks intelligently. it's galling that for the first part of his career he looked like he really didn't give a toss when he's clearly talented. hopefully he'll give us a few decent seasons so i can remove the reluctantly! foxes or poor people? I liked Duane Mann, who played for us in the early 90's IIRC. Not the fastest, but had a hell of a lot of skill (a little like Kelly Shelford)

Bomb Jack
I watched Widnes from around 1974 to early 80's, stopped watching around 80 or 81, then didn't go again until 1995. So i'm going from a vague memory, and only including players i actually saw. 1) Mick Burke 2) Stuart Wright 3) Mal Aspey 4) Mick George 5) John Basnett 6) Eric Hughes 7) Reg Bowden Jim Mills 9) Keith Elwell 10) Glynn Shaw 11) Alan Dearden 12) Mick Adams 13) Doug Laughton I may do one featuring only Players from 1995 onwards later................ Old Frightful
It ain't that bad, a win on Thursday and you will be the happiest bunny going! Cheers BR. But that's about as likely as summat not very likely. "When I saw the Pistols and The Clash I realised it didn't seem that difficult, they didn't seem like they could play very well either, so the thing was to form a band then work it out. We didn't even know who was going to play what - we passed around all the instruments until we found what we were comfortable with. I wasn't comfortable with any of them so I became the singer." Is the reason simply that we haven't seen their full career pan out yet, or that players used to be better, or is it though nostalgic glasses where everything seemed better? Most of the players in my current team haven't played long enough with the club to prove how good they are. Also this team has not really won anything , whereas the majority of the players listed won many competitions thus proving that they were the best at that time. Several of our current team could possibly make it. Ben Galea has a chance, so do Mick Vella and Joel Clinton. Alongside Jake Webster as we have been weak in the centres with the exception of Prohmy who was a total legend.
