Does our game lack personality?

Watching the Saints game, seeing Greenwood score a match levelling try, and tbh, he looked like somebody had just died. At times I think we just take things too seriously. Where was a celebration? Where were his teammates congratulating him? Where was a smile?

Watching on tv, there was pretty much zero excitement or personality conveyed.

Have we created a load of robots worried about expressing themselves?

I miss Henry Faafili's bazooka celebration!

Plenty of players celebrate with great enthusiasm. The flipside is the tedious choreographed celebrations that were all the rage in Football a few years ago.

Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted.

I wish for the manly firm handshake and little leap in the air of the black and white footage era. This modern bump shoulders and hugging you see all the time is too affected and rather "timbersexual" apparently.

Although i'm sure modern players are neutered by facile media training but think they are safe on modern social media where their true insanity is revealed.

"Timbersexual"?

Yes a new term to me some week ago but you will have heard of the Metrosexual. Men dressed by women. The Timbersexual are modern men retaliating to this with an off the shelf manly look including overly groomed but seemingly bushy facial hair which resembles a lumberjack.

Nice to see Danny Brough celebrating when Crabtree scored v Widnes.

Every team should have a Ritchie Mathers!

When was the last time we saw a bit of a boogie? Almost 27 years ago, thats when!!!

I enjoy your posts Dave, but I can't help but feel you're being really picky with this judgement

"I don't want to insult the Australians (but) I am like, 'These guys are some damn idiots'. Nobody plays football without pads every week for three, four or five months and don't make any money. At least in the NFL, you are going to kill yourself and . . . you get to be a millionaire after it's over."

im not bein a hundred percent serious mate, but i do ask, what other sport would see such misery for a 2nd half equaliser?

possibly Premier League (depending on the manager of the team)

Maybe that's the big part of it: as a Wire fan under Tony Smith (not the mot demonstrative of coaches) Wire have seemingly enjoyed playing their rugby.

Would you like Chris Ashton back?

ok. I loved the way Kevin Penny celebrated after skinning Ashton.

Plenty of celebrating at Wheldon Road tonight. Fair bit of sulking too, C/o Mr Wane.

Yes the sport lacks characters and has become too sterile imo, not helped by poor refs and sky commentators

refs and presenters/commentators have personalities that get us talking.

Majority of our players demonstrate little personality on the field, even during moments of 'celebration'.

This thread was started slightly tongue in cheek, but there is a serious point behind it. Watching the game on tv last night (and the night before) has been quite a downbeat dowdy experience. We dont see shots of cheerleaders celebrating, fans loving it, players enjoying themselves.

We should try enjoying ourselves more!

All clubs should have Cheerleaders running acros the pitch with huge flags , and go carts driving alongside the pitch , not forgetting mind numbing music blaring out a boring song

That's the way to do it

or we could do it well? Just a thought.

Other sports are focusing on the whole package, and are doing well out of it.

I like the go-karts idea though.

I liked the cowgirl galloping a horse around the pitch celebration at the broncos! Nearly fell off though
