Coventry at home

Seems like an age since we had a game at home.  Anyway, Coventry at the Vestacare this weekend.  They're no mugs and already have a heartland team's scalp this season (Cougars).

Late decision on Johnson

FULL-BACK Kyran Johnson is keeping Oldham boss Scott Naylor waiting on his team-selection plans ahead of Sunday’s clash with Coventry Bears at the Vestacare Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Good performance, no injuries, 2 points in the bag by 5 o'clock Sunday hopefully. That will do me this week.

I'm sure we won't underestimate the Bears and show due respect but we should have enough to put a decent score on if we perform for the full 80 mins.

Looking forward to a home game, after the trips to Newcastle and Wembley.

See the usuals there.

Up the Yeds!

Wembley was great and a memorable occasion - a large stadium makes a spectacle out of the game, BUT there's nothing quite like being close up and a feeling of connection with all the action of the game of rugby league. We'll have that back tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. BRING IT ON.

Game Day at last!  It seems so long since we last played at the Vestacare Stadium even though it's only three weeks ago.

Coventry have had a really good season this year and despite a few injury problems they'll be all fired up for only their fourth visit to Oldham.

Meanwhile, across Manchester, Hornets and Swinton battle it out in the Million Pence game.  I'll have half an eye on that contest too.  Next year we could be playing both of them, one of them or none of them depending on which way the cookie crumbles or whatever restructure news comes from the RFL.

I'll be up the video tower again trying to keep the roof from resting on my head by propping it up with bits of 3x2.

When we have needed to front up this season we have lost.

I expected a 50 plus victory and this was done.

Put us in front of Bradford York Keighley and Workington and we lose.

This is season we have definitely flatter to deceive in a bad way.

At least we don't have to look for a new ground to play in 2019.

Wilkinson on the ball in ten-try romp

AS preparation for season-defining back-to-back games against York City Knights and Bradford Bulls, the Roughyeds’ 58-6 win against Coventry Bears was probably a tad too easy.

Big win -- okay performance.

SCOTT Naylor was pleased with the 58-6 win against Coventry Bears . . . but not entirely happy with the level of performance.

Yeah, generally they do. Kershaw will be a decent winger/centre when he develops more at Wakey and has been good for us this season on the whole, prone to a few errors too though. West is solid and quick but hasn't featured much recently, the other winger Ecclestone is a 7/10 every game also prone to lapses in concentration.

What's cost us massively is we have a switch that turns us off for spells during a game, when the lads put their minds to it we look good it's lack of consistency for 80mins and not being ruthless when we have hit the front which has been our Achilles heel this term.

Agreed,if we could sort the"switching off issue" we would in a much better place.
