who has been the highest scoring forward in recent seasons?

It's a long time since we had a proper forward top the try scoring list, Bob Haigh scored 40/41 in '71 IIRC, taking the try scoring record from Hull FC legend Bob Taylor who as a 2nd row scored 32 from 35 games in 1925/6!

Oli Holmes last season I believe (9)

Mcmeeken has been up there last couple of seasons (8,8).

I'd throw the name of Darnell Mackintosh in as a dark horse. Not the fastest but has got all the hallmarks, probably playing from fullback for Hudds he has strength, balance, change of pace and chases the ball well.

With McGillvary and Uate chewing up metres for fun he could do some real damage against a retreating defence

Seriously McGillvary! He's past his best mate.

Quite like the team top try scorer markets on Betfred.  Shame you can't put them in online multiples - should be able to in the bookies though.

Will probably pop into Betfred and place a few muptiples.

Eden (Cas, 4/7), Johnstone (Wak, 5/4), Charley (War, 4/5).

Treble, £25 pays £159

Broughton (Cat, 7/4), Fariamo (Hul, 9/4), Sio (Wap, 2/1), T Briscoe (Lee, 4/1)

Lucky 15, £30 Quid stake could return up to £763

Thank you for your opinions. i wasn't aware that Gale wasn't playing why is this? my pal at work had £200 on Eden top tryscorer on the nose the next day he went from 7/1 to 5/1 on Betfred it doesnt take much to move the markets. I wouldnt touch Eden if no Gale

Latest rumour, pretty strong one.  Gales out long term. Torn Achilles.

Just in case anyone is considering punting him for MOS or Eden for top try scorer!

Gale definitely out.

Roberts and Ellis also out for the early part of the season too.

On a betting front, I went on sky bet when I found out placed a decent bet on Catalan to beat Cas 1st game of season (9/4), a double with Hull to beat Cas 2nd game (double 4.25/1), treble throwing in the Saints game at magic (6.87/1).

I guess a few others did the same when the news broke this morning as Sky Bet look to have removed the markets for all 3 games!

9/4 still with bet365 for Catalan

11/5 last time I checked.  Sky Bet re-opened their market at 2/1 which is still fairly generous (I doubt they have factored in the 2 back up halfs been out to be honest).  The bookies don't take risks so will have wanted to see why their was a bit of activity on the market suddenly hence suspending it (won't have taken too much on a small market like this).

As the bet I placed I also put it in a double with every fairly  shortpriced horse I fancied today (as well as doing multiples with the horses in their own right).

Had a smashing day on the nags, including 6 of the 7 horse doubled with Catalan winning.  So I will get a pretty decent consolation payment of Cas lose their 1st match!

Gales injury rules Eden out of the top try scorer market for me though.

Charnley and Johnstone both looked extremely good options now.

Who was the winger for hull today Fijian bloke?? Special him

Ratu Naulago. On a trial from Saracens. 7's specialist apparently.

Sounds like a contract could be on its way. Radford spoke very highly of him after the match.

Makinson finishing v new zealand was top class but he doesn't score big numbers for saints not to sure why

Makinson has always been a great finisher, unfortunately for him he hasn't had a top class centre inside him for the last few years so hasn't seen much ball come his way. With Naiquama inside him at 3 next season he should get far more scoring opportunities than he has in recent years

Broughton great shout. I held back with mine. I may swap them about sticking with Johnson though. Skybet only let me put about £30 ew on. I wanted £100 ew on Johnson.

Who do you fancy MOS?

Broughton apparently 1st training session after an ACL reconstruction today. I'd assume he's going to miss some games so tapers the value a bit.

Bureta Faraimo was the 4th top scorer amongst wingers last year and 7th overall, that despite Hull being awful for half the year. Jake Connor will likely be his centre and he is 40/1 to be top scorer. Not a bad outside bet.

I think the smart money is on either Eden or Johnstone though.

Faraimo 4/1 to be Hulls top try scorer with sky bet yesterday (7/2 today). Probably the best value RL bet I've seen yet.

Don't plan to retire on  it though only let me put £7.14 on it as a single and include it in a 0.39p lucky 15 (with Manfredi/Wigan 5/2), T.Briscoe/Leeds (4/1) and Broughton/Catalan (5/2).

Might have to the passwords out for 'the Missus's' account and see if she has more joy!

They are very poor how can a company that big limit us to a few quid? I wanted to put £400 on saints at 7/2 I rang them up they offered me 9/4 What a farce.

Its bonkers mate, so risk averse it's farcical at times.

I tend to lay out £750 b4 the season starts then just have a interest each game on 1st try scorer. I normally do a big bet for regular season then 2 top trysorer bets both e/w. I was going to pull the trigger last week but some of your comments made me 're think
