Your comment certainly opens up the idea of GB. Whilst the squad that will get selected to tour later this year will almost be solely filled with players born or predominantly schooled in England.

The heritage of those selected however may have some greater Celtic connection.

Perhaps that is how the team should be marketed. Interview players parents or grandparents who are from the Celtic nations to demonstrate the greater British influence of that team.

That is a really good idea actually!

Why ??  I’d love my grandson to play for Wales. Iestyn Harris wouldn’t have done so either according to your criteria.

Totally agree, I have quite a bit of Irish heritage and I'm very proud of it. I would love my hypothetical grandson to play for Ireland. It would really show he recognises and embraces that heritage!

Aussies may be able to provide 24 International teams in the 2025 World Cup.

The 2008 World Cup had around 70% of all of the players born in Australia.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

Not to be unexpected really. Countries where the sport is strongest tend to supply the most players. As evident in the union and football world cups. In league its magnified because of its relative small footprint at professional level but its by no means alone.

I'd be very curious to see how many Australians qualify for Ireland.

The Irish RL set up is very England focused and I can't help but think we must be missing out on some gems down under. It's hard to believe that Luke Keary only pulled out of the 2017 WC squad at the last minute.

If Ireland are planning to stick with the heritage route they should really be looking at emigration trends for the last 20 years. That points to Australia, not the North of England.

Based on my research of Australian comps (state cups, Ron Massey, Sydney shield etc)

They could definitely put out a 1-17, I’ll aim to get Ireland uploaded soon for you:

1: Josh Bermingham - Wenty

2: Roland Podesta - Manly U20

3: Toby Marks - Newcastle Knights

4: Api Pewhairangi - NZ Warrior

5: Corey Browne - Asquith

6: Brandan Finnegan - Cabramatta

7: Luke Keary

8: David Murphy - Northern Pride

9: Josh Daley - Wests Magpie

10: Owen McCarron - Val’ Diehards

11: Josh Curran - NZ Warriors

12: Dean Barnes - North Sydney

13: Jayden Griffin - Hills Bulls

14: Isaac Luke - NZ Warriors

15: Adrian Doyle - Penrith brothers

16: Jangala Bennett - Cronulla U20

17: Jack Mackin - Tweed Heads

You have way to much time on your hands mate.

I actually teach full time, so have very little time.

But international RL is something I’m passionate about, so whatever I can do to help it.

It helps that I hate doing nothing, especially in school holidays

Just saw Jamaica is up.

Can I make a request/suggestion?

Could you make a row on your tables indicating whether or not they have represented that nation?
