Jean de Bordeaux
Lacoste elected ! It's a very good news. I'm not sure that he is a staunch defender of the national training centre's project...It's necessary to have a serious internal audit before validation, to avoid conflicts of interest and other hidden debts in relationship with previous governance. Mr Lacoste's project his to reinforce the french game's media interest with a semi professional championship with teams in 3 or 4 big cities, in addition to the actual clubs, to prepare a better national team for the RLWC, to increase the number of players at all levels, mostly grasroots and schools. In short : emerge our game from its lethargy and to find a new credibility. Vast program ! He has a large majority in the new council , and will be able to work for a period of 4 years. audois
Good to see the new Federation President already reaching out. Here with the International RL boss Danny Kazandjian. "It involves matters much greater than drafting the new rules...the original and existing games have their own powerful appeal to their players and public and have the sentiments which history inspires" - Harold 'Jersey' Flegg 1933 "Just as we had been Cathars, we were treizistes, men apart." - Jean Roque, Calendrier-revue du Racing-Club Albigeois, 1958-1959 Si tu( Remi Casty) devais envoyer un fax au Président Guasch? audois
58 year old Gilles Dumas is now one of Luc Lacostes' key members. In his playing days with a mop of blond hair partnering his mate from Provence in Patrick Entat. They were together when France last beat GB at Headingléy in 1990. Dumas has managed the Tricolores on two occaisons 2005-2008 and 2012-2015 and has been a pillar behind his Racing club St Gaudens for years .His son plays in the halves/hooker for RSG presently.Dumas is looking forward to the WC in the autumn this year. A real challenge for the national team to do justice to their present 8th place world ranking with the rising Pacific Island teams in attendance. audois
The new General Secretary of the Federation is 63 yr old Dominic Baloup from the small town of La Reole in the Aquitaine region east of Bordeaux. He has been a major figure in the local Federal club all his life. I feel the foot print of the game has grown geographically at least with the new set-up. Add on the Provence contingent - players of note in Younis Khattabi, Gael Tallec and Patrick Entat. Will see how they go. audois
French Federation President Lacoste makes further ground. With the European Federation people Maurice Watkins and David Butler. Would be good if Ralph Rimmer and Robert Elstone made contact too.
