I'm not one of those lazy nostalgist windbags, but compared to this headline of yesteryear,
the papers of today really need to roll their sleeves up.

A bereaved pet owner chose to remember her much-loved hamster by forking out £175 to have the dead rodent stuffed - as a stripper dancing on a pole in a thong. Jess Porter-Langson lost her Roborovski dwarf hamster Hammington, known as Hammy, in August last year but decided to do 'something special' to remember him.

In a Sydney lawyer's office today a 79-year-old man shot and wounded a 77-year-old lawyer.

Quote

Police have said it was too early to classify the relationship between the alleged gunman and the lawyer.

Detective Inspector David El-Badawi said the incident was not being treated as gang related.

Phew! that's a relief. What moron would have assumed this was some beef between rival drug gangs?

Remember the underwhelming Willy Wonka Experience in Glasgow that hit the headlines recently?

https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/glasgow-willy-wonka-experience-los-angeles-event-rcna149468

Two months after a Willy Wonka-inspired “Chocolate Experience” in Scotland failed so spectacularly that it cemented itself in internet meme history, a similar event in Los Angeles attracted dozens of people hoping to take part in a re-creation of the absurd experience. Scottish actor Kirsty Paterson - who became known as “Meth Lab Oompa Loompa” - was a key participant in the event.

It didn't make the news but last night was one of the weirdest weather events I've ever experienced. After the sun went down around 5:30pm we had the usual rapid temperature drop of about 5 deg. Then, around 9pm it started warming up again and went up to nearly 16 by midnight and was still over 16 at 4am. The normal pattern for June would have been rapid drop to about 9 after the sun goes down then minimum of 6 or 7. The previous night the minimum was 4.9

As someone who hasn't used a heater for 30 years, I'm usually very aware of the winter temperatures and this was an absolute one-off.

Exciting development in Hull for lovers of architecture such as myself. Workmen have been seen starting to demolish a nightclub which is bang in the city centre that has been derelict for almost 20 years. This is exciting because the site has planning permission for a couple of towerblocks, 14 and 12 storeys respectively, with the taller of the two probably becoming the tallest building in the city!
