"Huddersfield Cricket and Athletic Club"?

Just a guess, probably not.

Similar in design to Marylebone Cricket Club insignia.

Although it’s been passed down a Yorkshire family, the date on the cap suggests Victorian era sports team.

Don’t rule out the possibility that it is a public school somewhere.

Switzerland national football side maybe (judging by the acronym CHF) although the date predates their first international?

Could be a red herring, but I would imagine the CHF will be the key to sourcing it.

Switzerland's first international was in 1905 so can't be that.

Sounds extreme, but when you give it some thought... :kolobok_wink:

I don’t know the score but they  probably played for a penalty shoot out

After all that it looks rather like it might be a Hull FC RL cap :

What a great find! Tests at Stamford Bridge and......Cheltenham!

The "Dark Ages" is a term referring to life at the RFL under the new regime. It's characterized by a decline in openness, professionalism, transparency and  achievements,
