Opening Round Fixtures In Champ & League 1

That's a fair bit of travelling for some of those teams in League 1,

Workington to Skolars and return - 650 miles

Cornwall to Midlands and return - 550 miles

Oldham to West Wales and return - 450 miles

Jam Eater  1.(noun. jam eeter) A Resident of Whitehaven or Workington. Offensive.  It is now a term of abuse that both towns of West Cumbria use for each other especially at Workington/Whitehaven rugby league derby matches.

Particularly in February when the weather can be dodgy. You'd think that they'd have more local matches at that time of year.

The problems start when games are postponed and need to be shoe-horned in midweek.

Clubs are publicising stuff. So maybe that was the agreed process ahead of stuff appearing in RL press tomorrow

That literally never happens in any credible sport. The governance of the competition failing to release the full fixture list and a news article/social media post about this is worse than amateurish.

Shambolic, really. Nearly an hour on and they’re still not there.

Most clubs had their own fixtures posted within minutes of the embargo.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Maybe they figured that the national press weren't waiting with bated breath?

The most interested people are the fans of the clubs themselves and, mostly, they did a good job in getting them out on time. It is notable that they are all presented in the same format so somebody at HQ was on the ball there.

That’s missing the point. If the competitions governing body cannot post a news article and put the fixtures on their website, what’s the point? It’s worse than amateurish and says everything about the organisation that their member clubs have done what they’re supposed to.

Nobody cares, so why bother? Are you genuinely serious? You cannot be.

Nobody cares except the clubs themselves at present. How do we compare with, say, the football Northern Premier where support and interest is pretty well at the same level? I don't subscribe to the "build it and they will come" theories but do feel that there needs to be a much greater "whole game" approach first. Get the exposure, generate the interest, then publicise the competitions. Trying to do everything at once or in an illogical order is simply a waste of effort. If I understand correctly this is the kind of thing upon which IMG are focussing.

What a ridiculous attitude to the very basics. The Northern Premier posts their fixtures in full on the day they’re released. Nearly twenty four hours on The RFL still haven’t. If it wasn’t for the clubs, nobody would know anything.

There's only one poster on this thread who's bothered about it, that may be an indication on how important it is right now

There’s a World Cup on.

Either way, ###### standards, ###### results. Just like England losing when given their easiest route to a final in history. The common denominator in both, The RFL.

On another forum, it said Workington travelling to Cornwall ( or Cornwall travelling to Workington) is a round trip of about 950 miles.

only one lancashire derby in league 1 this year …Hornets v Oldham….and since both teams have been spending the last month signing each others players it should be a humdinger on Good Friday.

By seasons end league 2 could be a lancashire free zone leaving it to new teams from development areas….and yorksher!

Croeso cynes/ a warm welcome to Dewsbury for our opening game. Looking forward to meeting some of the Dewsbury fans who we've not seen since we were in the Championship in 2014.
