Watson Boas signs for two clubs

Not sure quite how this will play out, but I'd doubt he'll be back at Doncaster anytime soon.

Who's the other club?

A new PNG domestic side, apparently.

It’s just a story in the PNG press by the sounds, rather than a fact.

There are photos of him signing with the new club which he shared himself on his Facebook

Has he broken his first agreement then?

Yes, he is contracted to Doncaster til the end of 2024

It will be particularly frustrating to the Dons as they gave him a long term contract (which is rare at League One) to enable his security through Covid, then rehabilitated him after a bad injury to get him ready for the world cup (all while giving him employment around local schools). He has hardly played for them over the last few years, and is certainly not the star man of the squad that is sometimes reported, what he did offer was something different off the bench and could cover a number of positions.

I appreciate he wants to be home nearer his family, but he has seemingly gone about it in an awful way.

If he's deliberately broken an agreement he's signed there should be some way to sort that out. I don't expect the RFL to step up though from all the occasions I can recall they were the chocolate fireguard.

CLUB STATEMENT | WATSON BOAS

The Dons are aware of a story regarding Watson Boas back in his native Papua New Guinea.

Watson is contracted to the Dons until the end of 2024, and we can confirm that we have not released him from that contract to sign with any other team.

The club will not be commenting further on this issue until the matter is resolved.

Thanks, that’s a £11.8k signing on fee, decent.

It is, and much to the chagrin of the P.N.G. Hunters, who play in the Queensland HOSTPLUS Cup, the Sepik Pride have pinched two of their players as well with a similar sign on fee, which roughly equates to about $20 000 Oz. Great to see a bit of decent money coming into the P.N.G. Digicel Cup.
