It's happened again. It kinda crept up under the cover of the winter we have had for 9 months.

Unfortunately, it pains me to remind everybody that the nights start drawing in again from midnight TONIGHT.

My humble apologies for this reminder

The "Dark Ages" is a term referring to life at the RFL under the new regime. It's characterized by a decline in openness, professionalism, transparency and  achievements,

Good, I hate waking up at 4 in the morning and it being bright sun outside, find it really hard to get back to sleep, finally be able to sleep for longer.

Good job for you that you don't live here, HG!

Shetlanders have a wonderful phrase for the almost perpetual daylight through the night at this time of year; they call it the 'simmer dim'.

My aunt's bloke lives in Scotland and she spends half the year up there. She's been to just about everywhere in Scotland over the years including Lerwick and she has actually said about this. I don't think I'll be visiting Lerwick during the summer. I wouldn't mind going there but I think I'll be going in winter when it is perpetually dark.

I worked nights for 8 years, it was really weird working in darkness at the start of the shift and end up in daylight. Much preferred winter, even though except 2pm to about 4.30pm ( slept 8 to 2),  spent six months living in darkness.

😄😄 I haven’t seen snow for 17 years.  Today it is sunny with a top temperature of 16c.

Although, on a few days in winter the local radio stations go ape 🦧 if the Bureau of Metrology even hint that there might be a light dusting of snow on Mount Lofty - it is really a big hill that overlooks Adelaide - through the night.

The next morning you get people ringing the radio stations ####-a-hoop that they dragged their kids out bed - still in their pyjamas- around 5am to drive up to Mount Lofty to see if any snow fell.  Bonkers!
