Jimmy Beckett

Silk played prop for us but is more the size of a back rower/centre

his effort is there but don’t think he’s champ level

Tomlinson went okay for us in limited opportunities

Keenan Tomlinson played a couple of seasons for us, solid player.

Real shame that Jimmy Beckett has gone but he'd be going in 10 games time.

Hopefully the friendly with Fev will be at Dewsbury.

I’m reliably told Beckett said to Paul Marsh that unless they agree to his move starting early, he’s going to just turn off. Great from our captain that.

To be fair to the club in this situation, there’s not much they could really do other than trying to make the best out of it.

Don't believe Jimmy Beckett ever gave less than 100% when he wore the Red, Amber & Black so let's just say "Thanks Jimmy" and best of luck for your future endeavours..... Our fate is sealed for this season (at least in terms of league placings) so we may as well have a look at Tomlinson and Silk and see if they can bring anything to advantage the Club going forward.....

What if people say that they doubt your sources? Your random condemnation of players seems to be following an agenda.

Re JB he arrived as a younger player from Featherstone. At the time he was struggling to get game time and in effect landed at the Rams looking to enhance his skills and ultimately his career. IMHO the lad has given good service to the Rams during this time. If anything I am of the opinion that he has been overplayed regarding match minutes during this past two seasons! He now returns to I believe what is his club a more experienced and enhanced player. Better equipped to serve a top 6 club. I honestly believe that if spelled correctly he will prove to be a decent potentially long term recruit. Yes the timing of his departure could have been better but ultimately in the grand scheme of things it is not likely to matter a jot. Wether a person rates any player or not it is always a matter of an individual’s subjective assessment. However as supporters I feel that we should always acknowledge when a player has clearly given his all whilst playing for the club. JB fits this criteria IMHO. So I say well done to him and good look going forward.

Jimmy Beckett has been an asset to the team. Playing 60/70/80 minutes every week, might be wrong but think he's been every present, put in a big defensive shift, captain, lacked enough other props to back him up, he's already signed for Fev next year.

If we were in a relegation dogfight, it'd be different but we're not, we are planning for next season. We should make a few thousand from the Fev friendly for next season.

Good luck to him.

In the interview with Paul March in the Royal Suite after the game, it seemed very much as if Fev had approached Dewsbury with a view to a 2-for-1 deal so they could get JB on board this season ......... It afforded us the opportunity to have a look at a couple of players who may or may not be of benefit going forward so made sense in the overall scheme of things ..... and if SILK's performance yesterday was anything to go by, I wouldn't mind seeing him regularly in the Red, Amber & Black.

Hearsay is simply that and should remain where it belongs ........ but, hey, Rugby League's always been a conspiracy theorist's dream playground.

Plus we get the takings from a pre-season friendly

Lets hope they get promotion winning everything possible, then their support for a pre-season game against us will be good! 😀

The original quote is mine. To defend it; I said that Beckett told the club they must agree or he’ll stop performing to the same levels. I know this is true from a source directly in the coaching camp.  Whether you see Becketts stance as fair enough or not is opinion but not hearsay.

I also said the club couldn’t do much about it and had to make the best of the situation, which they seem to have done- with two loanees and a friendly.

My opinion is that I’d have preferred Beckett to see the job through to the very end, but I understand the counter argument.

However my original statement stands to be true and fair.

It's a sad state of affairs if a "source directly in the coaching camp" is going around making these sort of statements, whether they're true or not ........ The version of events that I was told was that Jimmy wanted to stay and see the season through - and I have zero reason to doubt that my 'source' was telling me anything other than what they believed to be true.  But I am NOT making that as a true and fair statement - just a version that I choose to believe.

It is ultimately, on both sides, hearsay:

I reckon it probably was Fev who approached Dewsbury. However rest assured JB was not kicking and screaming in a bid to stay on board!
