So, after the Ready Steady Go crowd have had their fun, what about the match?

We were comprehensively outplayed last week, whilst Barrow put up a decent show at home. We look likely to be light in the pack again, unless we can draft in some assistance from Huddersfield, and our options in the backs continue to be limited. Will we see a spirited "backs against the wall" fightback or a continuation of spirited but lacklustre defeat?

Information coming out of the club is an all time low and interest amongst all but the most dedicated fans seems to be waning. Add in the impact of summer holidays and we might be struggling to even half-fill the North Stand. We definitely need something to reinvigorate the fans and get a bit of momentum behind the club again as we return to the vagaries of C1.

What will it be?

Hopefully a narrow defeat only for us to enjoy.   Think the pack will be too light for a win.  Ill be happy as long as we put in the effort...

What will it be?I think this team with a slightly bigger pack and replacing the speed & creativity of O’Connor will do fine in League One.

I think this team with a slightly bigger pack and replacing the creativity & speed of O’Connor will do well in League One.

A couple of wins in that league and we’ll all be happy with life again. Then the cycle will go on and on.

We like being a big fish in a small pond rather than the other way round.

Defeats to

Barrow & Whitehaven

Will see us confirmed relegated

And we can forget any false hope of a recovery.

Now I can remember when we was in the first division we won only 3 games (Swinton, Bradford, Salford)

I've a sketchy memory of us only winning 2 games one season.

So winning only one game is a new record of misery for our fans

If required I will bow down to other’s superior knowledge but at this stage from a Rams perspective I can’t see the point in bringing any dual reg in for the remainder of the season. What is it actually going to achieve? We are definitely League One bound. So if I am the current coach I want to be looking at which players I can take with me. Therefore I want to expose them to playing at this level as much as possible in an effort to equip them better for League One. Yes the team will take hits in the shape of defeats but we are anyway. No dual reg merchant is going to change that. They just block playing time for others whilst their club exposes them to a better standard than the terrible reserve league. Are any of the current dual reg players likely to sign on and come down to League One? Being totally honest I personally don’t think it has been a great dual reg agreement. However like I say build for League One because it is inevitable IMHO.

🤔

77/78 - W2 D2 L the rest.

Remember 86/87, the season after we were relegated from Div1? We finished next to bottom of Div 2 only thanks to two late wins over the Barracudas in our last two games. The attendances were also shocking. Victory became hubris over the space of three seasons and the loyalty of the sporting public of Dewsbury was laid bare.

I agree with you entirely. However it was Paul March who referred to bringing in a couple from Huddersfield this week. Whether that will happen is moot.

The big question is how many of the players will still be with us next year. O'Connor won't be the only departure I'm certain.

We should definitely be planning for a rebuild in 2025 but I suspect that few players would be willing to commit to a C1 contract at present when they will have hopes of moving to something more remunerative. It's a tricky business all round.

There's quite a few factors.

Will they get a regular starting spot? So they will have to be better than other clubs current players on your position. Can they do the travel to training etc..? If you're not in the team, no winning pay/,losing pay and no game time. No reserve teams. Might get DR players in your place.

Grapevine is Calum Turner and O'Connor going to Fev and Ronan Dixon and Owen Restall to Halifax.....but that's just Forum rumours😊

Billington in the squad, as is Paul Sykes.

Don't use that F word when Coolie is knocking about.

You little monkeys keep winning just when it looks like your going to drop out the top 6,couple of teams breathing down your neck, but what is it all for..

You don't go up even if you win the grand final, that's been reserved for Wakefield.. Which personally I think is wrong.

Play offs are for the teams that have chucked in a few quid this season to be also ran's

Games heading for a dark place on its current course.

They main question is have they got electronic perimeter advertising?   No point winning games if you haven’t.

Right, let’s decide on today’s match. I’ll go for:

Dewsbury 22-16 Barrow

FTS: Carr

MoM: Graham

Att: 1208

Hope we see some of our ex-players (and Barrow’s too) from 30 years ago when today’s visitors were the first at the then new ground.

Legs, Dews, Legs.

We have to be hopeful, despite the shortage in personnel.

Rams 18 - 16 Raiders

FTS: Davies

MoM: Turner

Att: 525

(Sept 11th is the anniversary by the way, CF.)
