That 2024 team in the wikipedia article is just the official selection of the best players from the comp that sees NSW Catholic schools, NSW HIgh Schools, NSW Independent Schools, ACT Schools, Queensland Schools play each other.  They've gone from sending touring teams to Europe every couple of years for several decades and regular fixtures against NZ, to barely having played a game in the last six years.

They played PNG u20’s last year as a warm up before the PM13 game.

Here's a heartwarming article for those of you applauding large sums of money being spent, but do not care how effectively it is being spent.

AU$618,000 spent by LRLF in 2017 (not including WC expenses). 7 years later, what exactly do they have to show for it?

Just read in a french newspaper that Lebanon aren't coming over, the players clubs won't release them it says,

Well that’s put a stop to that then. I think below England the NH teams need to build without the NRL.
Build up the Euros and the North American tournaments and some of the African teams like Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco.

Lebanon look odds on not to regain their full IRL member status thus making themselves ineligible for RLWC2030 qualification.

They don’t have a 6 team domestic competition.

They don’t have 4 junior (U15-U19) sides attached to the above clubs.

Two national teams (men & women) must play 3 internationals between them across 24 months. 1 must be home.

——-

They’re f***ed! And you know what!? The NRL won’t like it so I can genuinely see them overriding the IRL’s own membership laws come 2030 and Lebanon will feature as guests or similar.

If the NRL doesn't like it so much why don't they let them play?

I hope sense prevails and IRL board members Abdo & V'landys pull rank on the clubs here.

Do not hold your breath. The goalposts have been moved a few times in order to accommodate Lebanon. After failing to qualify via Europe for WC 2013, a new confederation was created, MEA (Middle East & Africa) and they were given a direct spot, only having to beat the likes of South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon.

Then earlier this year, IRL said to all nations: look I know we already said it would be 16 teams, but we are scrapping that and making it 10 teams for the next WC. Furthermore, only full members can play in the qualifiers or take part in a WC. The following nations (Lebanon among others have been demoted from full membership). However, Lebanon are still guaranteed a spot at the next WC because we already said they would, so we have to honour that.

Shocking and yet some people still kid themselves that the NRL are good for international Rugby League:

Absolutely horrendous yet again. They have no idea how to run an international competition as they are so insular it hurts.

In 20 years time when all the kids play soccer they'll be sat there wondering what went wrong.
