Match thread: Championship Round 25. Featherstone Rovers v Dewsbury. Saturday 21st September 2024.

Recommended Posts

So, this is the very definition of a must-win game for Rovers.

Two terrible performances I don't even want to think about ever again, but we're still in the mix.

Bottom club Dewsbury at home. They've won one match all year and seemed to give up the ghost and accept relegation months ago.

So, what could possibly go wrong?

On our current form, all sorts obviously.

We had a full squad bar Aekins and Lacans last Sunday, and apparently Caleb may be ready again, so lets see what squad (tomorrow) and team (Saturday) we put out.

Will anyone be dropped after the Swinton & Sheffield shows?

I was going to put a list of the possibilities of who might make the playoffs but SOA has started a good thread on that, so post your mathematical calculations, thoughts and predictions there.

F  Addy,s suspension is on the RL disciplinary webpage, they say it is for" a delayed hit on an attacker."

Dewsbury will be up against it in their last game at home to Sheffield they have 4 suspended.

We've barely a squad to play you, think you'll put 50-60 past us. Expect about 10 diehard Dewsbury fans.

Trouble is Sheffield already have a + 28 points difference and with 4 missing i think they will score more against Dewsbury than we will.

Where you seen that ?

Danny Addy

Dangerous Contact – A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position which causes flexion to the head, neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to that player

I'm pretty sure that this is the first time in 2024 that the entire squad has been available for selection. Jeffery and Harris miss out.

Theoretically no-one injured or suspended. Let's see which four players don't get selected.

Seems about right - for the easiest game of the season (well on paper at least by a mile - no disrespect Dewsbury fans).

fevnut has published ‘Fev v Dewsbury Rams: 21 man squads’.

We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads, so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs.

There are two very welcome returnees in the Fev squad but we will have to see if they actually play.

We also include a chart showing the leading scorers for both teams.

Will this be the last game on the standing terrace behind the sticks?.Enjoyed standing there as supporters can see the slight gaps in the defence better than the players on the field.Seeing a ball sail through the sticks from a touchline kick is a joy to see .Especially if the kick is crucial. We can also give the linesmen some friendly advice if we disagree with them while they stand awaiting the kick.if and when the terrace is dug up can we please extend the dead ball line a couple of metres. For a player running or diving flat out those railings do present a danger to player welfare.

A view from the other side

You will win on Saturday, that's not a guess, that is a fact.

You've never seen a team more disillusioned than the current squad and for every Dewsbury Rams fan the season cannot come early enough,

The margin of victory depends on how much you click, you play anything like a team and you should achive 50 points.

Now the bad bit of news

By the looks of it your season will end next week and a failure to reach the top 6.

On reflection you don't deserve to reach the playoffs, lack luster performances, shock defeats, it won't do you any harm to not make the playoffs, you'll never achive anything under Ford, not good enough and not in the same vein as what Featherstone represents.

Also can someone please explain why you've signed Callum Turner??

Because many Rams fans are baffled with your choice to recruit him, no logic what so ever

It's like Liverpool signing Paul Mullins from Wrexham, Gareth Hock been signed by Penrith Panthers

I'll be attending the match and expect a battering, come 7.45pm will be a reality

Fev 58 Dewsbury 6 (and we'll be lucky to get 6🤔
