jroyales Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Well back to the bread and butter games now we have got the CC out of the way. Sadly, yet again the attendance will be low since LB won't bring more than a taxi load. Looking at the games we have had at home, I don't think Batley, York and Barrow brought more than a coach load between them. Hope I'm wrong and the home spectators turn up, but a lot will depend upon which side SL puts out. 1
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Can anyone remember what the attendance was at last years friendly against them?

"It was a modest crowd of just over a thousand but they were getting louder as the pressure was beginning to come from Sean Long’s Oldham" From London Broncos match review from last years friendly. I'll be there nursing a hang over but I'm more concerned about getting back to winning ways then how many turn up to be honest... Come on the Yeds 1
jroyales Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 You might not be worried about the attendance , but Bill Quinn and Mike Ford are.

The weather should not be an excuse anymore. All supporters should bring a friend to the game on Sunday. Also the club needs volunteers on match days so make yourselves known to club staff on Sunday if you can help. It's our turn now to help Bill and Mike. 1
shrewsbury roughyed Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Hard to call this one. London narrowly beat Featherstone, though Fev had their own troubles at the time. Bradford beat them and they narrowly beat Dewsbury in the 1895. I watched them against Goole on tv in the Challenge Cup and they weren't firing on all cylinders and had an unsettled team. You'd assume they have started to gel now but if we play to our strengths and show more intelligence near their line I think we're capable of winning this one. 3

London were unrecognisable when they played Fev compared with their dreadful performance against Goole, it was an astonising turnaround in performance brought about by Eccles - they defended as if their lives depended upon it against Fev and were deserving winners. They are a bit limited in attack though. 5 "I won’t engage in a debate because the above is correct and if anything else is stated to the contrary it’s incorrect."
Roughyed Rats Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Like most games in this division, it will be a tough one. I rate Eccles as a coach. Watched their game against Fev and they deserved the win. Hoping we can put the disappointment of Barrow behind us and get back to winning ways. 3 1

m brooksy Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Think this game will be vital for us and really define our start to the season. If we win I think we can say it's a decent start only losing one of four but if we were to lose I think it's a poor start and we have some very difficult fixtures coming up. Watching the Hull KR game back I actually think we competed for the vast majority of the game and the scoreline was very unfair. We didn't create much with the ball but that was to be expected whereas they took almost every chance they made. Thought Sambou was excellent again as was Drinkwater. Hope we didn't pick up too many injuries aside from Thornley and that looked more of a knock than a major injury. Watched a couple of London games and their defence is very impressive especially the scramble and cover defence. Can see this being a very tight game where we need to be patient and trust our half backs to guide us through the game as we have the pack to control the game. 2
bosman69 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 This game is a real test. What London have achieved under Eccles is tremendous. They came from knowhere in 2023 to win the play offs and ger promoted. Some astute mid season signings helped.. then they really competed well despite knowing that IMG would relegate them. That team has largely broken up but here they are quickly regrouping and competing hard already. Let's see the real oldham stand up and start playing with some consistency.. 2
Roughyed Rats Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Even more of a test without our 3 first choice centres (assuming Thornley is out?). A distinct lack of strike on the edges is going to make it difficult to breakdown a tough London defensive unit. Lose this and it will be a poor start to the season. Tough league this. 1

Bedford Roughyed Posted March 21 Posted March 21 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Enk27 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Jordan is back. Hope he's recovered and this isn't a case of him needing to play with others out. Be great to see JT back though. He just has a commanding presence when playing.
shrewsbury roughyed Posted March 21 Posted March 21 According to the website, London have won their last 13 matches against us!! Time to right that wrong! 1
wozzeryedhead Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Anyone know anything about the two lads centres from wigan and are they any good???
RoytonRoughyed83 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Feel like the season starts properly in Sunday, all the distractions are now done. League and Winnable Cup matches all the way now. Seen a few comments about expectations, so i did a bit of research. If we finish 9th above the relegation playoffs it will be our best finish for TWENTY years. That will do me. That and Wembley obviously. 3

m brooksy Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I'd go: PLT, Johnson, O'Keefe, Turner/Lowe, Dixon, Craven, Drinkwater, Dudson, Wildie, Jay, Ashurst, Lawton, Milner. subs: Farnworth, Moran, Ted, Baxter Would be very disappointed if Lowe comes straight in over O'Keefe who has bided his time waiting for an opportunity. Think the rest of the team almost picks itself. I reckon this is a must win game with our next run of fixtures looking very tough. Oldham by 8 1
