Something a little(!) different to Leslie West tonight. Still very enjoyable.

Two of the UKs long serving (and for me up there with the very best) bands have new albums just around the corner:

Arran from my Dying Bride is a good mate of mine. His music leaves me cold but he's a good bloke

Classic Rock magazine's album of 2015. Wouldn't have been my first choice but it is very good.

I've heard good reviews might give it a listen I but I fell out with heavy metal when the Americans got there hands on it giving us Bon Jovi etc. Whitesnake were one of my favourite bands, saw them at Donnington 1983 with Jon Lord they were brilliant. Then they went across the pond and came back with light perms and silk scarfs, I never bought another record by them.

Forever changes.....

As long as I skip the track 'Old Man', that's a very satisfying, if unnerving, album.

That explains why Eddie can never shift those Ratt albums.

I know exactly where you're coming from, mate, but The Book of Souls is just a damn good rock record.

Ahhhh brown sugar baby.....

Written, apparently, about Claudia Lennear, who I have recently been listening to, as she was one of the backing vocalists on 'Leon Russell & the Shelter People'.

Claudia's the one who's almost wearing that top.

Frank and The Mothers, nobody comes close. IMO of course.Mix - The Mothers of Invention 1970 Part 4 Who Are The Brain Police:

I love a bit of Zappa, but have to admit I prefer his work after the Mothers of Invention era.

When he had that band with George Duke and Napoleon Murphy Brock, he was really on top form. Not so keen on the Flo & Eddie stuff, though.

Apostrophe is great - you can almost hear the happiness in Frank's voice. I think he enjoyed making that album a lot.

Frank's personal favourite was apparently 'One Size Fits All', which I also really like.

I hope you don't think bad of me...

Bud I've got my old vinyl copy of deep purple's made in Japan cranked up... and I don't care... I've got my air guitar out and smoke on the water is bangin.....

It's been suggested that this is common loutish behaviour by my offspring.

Wow! This kid is 12 years old! This isn't one of those cutsie clips of a kid who can play piano a bit, has all the technical ability but little in the way of understanding about what they are playing. No, this kid can REALLY play and with a maturity that is, frankly, astonishing.
