Neil Young - Old Man - Live at Massey Hall

This is my fave live version - it doesn't have the "and then I bought a ranch" intro

After the 'Bee Gees' misery of the Ting Tings thread, I thought I'd take in some of the proper stuff...

Proto-disco seven minute-wonder 'Girl, you need a change of mind' by Eddie Kendricks from '72.

Pure disco's ground zero...? MFSB's TSOP from '74 with some swell Soul Train dancers...

Then swinging by Central Park for a roller jam with the Mighty Ryders in '78...

Two tracks into Lindsey Buckingham's new album 'Gift of Screws' and I have a warning. If you are a budding guitarist who isn't confident about how your technique is coming on, do NOT listen to this CD! You will be found, some days later, curled up in the fioetal position, sucking your thumb and with your brain dribbling out of your ears.

The Wedding Present - George Best

Dave Gedge is a 50 year old Adolsecent... :)

Ah, the Weddoes... such under-rated music and yet unknowingly copied by a thousand bands in the last 5 years or so. George Best is an album which just never sounds dated and remains in my top 5 or so of all time. I even used to have the t-shirt which said "All the songs sound the same".

They are coming home on 16 December by the way, near the end of their latest UK tour.

I've been listening to the new Queen & Paul Rodgers album, The Cosmos Rocks.

I'm not sure what I think about it yet. It isn't what I expected.

Like the imminent return of 'I'm sorry, I haven't a Clue' and 'The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', this just seems all wrong. Haven't heard the album, though, so this is no comment on the music; just the underlying idea.

Bongwater - Power of Pussy

The title song of the best album ever made - repeated here since the singer, Ann Magnuson, asked me to be her friend on Facebook this week

I can see how that might have made your day.

A woman called Magnusson though, that just sounds wrong. Surely she should be Ann Magnusdottir?

The new Metallica album Death Magnetic. a return to form of sorts, and currently streaming for free on their website.

I've not really listened to anything else all week.

I really didn't think they had another great album in them, but it's an outstanding piece of work IMO.
