Perhaps they can change sports, play RL , pushed into SL, they obviously can't play top tier football.

Realistically, it's been 30 odd years since Everton were truly a big club. Nothing stopping Everton going the way of Leeds or Sunderland. About 40 years ago relegation to the Division 2 might not have been a bad thing for Everton. Go down, sort themselves out and come back up riding a crest of a wave and hope you can do a Nottingham Forest circa late 70’s and 80’s. Nowadays the consequences are far reaching though. Not sure English football is any better for the gulf in class that’s developed. Edited September 2, 2024 by Gerrumonside ref

bobbruce Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 For about 3 seasons Everton have been one of the worse teams in the league. At the end of each season they have then sold some of their better players without replacing them. Richarlison,Gordon,Iwobi,Onana and more you can’t keep doing that. It’s a miracle they haven’t been relegated already. They will get found out eventually though and it looks like this could be the year. Which would be awful timing for them I’m sure they are thinking if they could just hold on until they get into the new ground they could start diverting money back to the team. 1

I don't have a problem at all with it being a second yellow. He kicks the ball away to stop Brighton taking a quick free kick. It's petulant. Are the people complaining about it saying you can kick it away so long as the ball only goes a few feet, but if you boot it further away, it's a yellow? Just leave the ball alone and you'll be fine. I will accept that Rice might feel a bit unlucky in the sense that plenty of other players have done similar and gotten away with it, but that's tough. He's probably done it before himself and gotten away with it, but on this occasion he got penalised for it. Play with fire and sometimes you'll get burnt.

The Hallucinating Goose Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Well Beverley haven't got going in their historic first season in the 9th division. After 5 games we are rooted to the bottom of the table with just 1 point and tonight we lost 6-5 at fellow strugglers Eccleshill United. Still, a long season ahead and I'm sure we'll get going soon! 2

Teams of matching abilities playing each other with p+r between leagues. Previously I wouldn't bother with friendlies, will watch though with so something riding on it, just enjoyed the Scotland/Poland match. FYI -All England matches now on ITV, so Channel 4 lost RL and England football. After this current international break, Scotland and N.Ireland matches probably on BBC and Premier , this break Scotland on ITV4, N Ireland on ITV 3 tonight, Sunday on ITVX. Wales on SC4 and BBC I PLAYER Edited September 5, 2024 by HawkMan
The Hallucinating Goose Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 HT at Faroe Islands v North Macedonia, Faroes winning 1-0. I'm loving all the Nations League games being free to air, I've watched some very random games so far! For those that aren't aware, all Nations league games are available for free on the YouTube channel, 'viaplay international'.
Maximus Decimus Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 England 2-0 up before half an hour. Grealish and Rice scoring. What are the chances? A Widnesian in Ireland blog What is the best system for Super League? An honest appraisal

I switched on Faroes match for 5 minutes, turned it off, no commentary ! I'll watch the Germany Hungary game tonight.

Update; When Premier TV took over from Viaplay they bought the La Liga contract and Scottish Premier and League Cup games, but not Nations League, which Viaplay still hold. Agreements in place for Home Nations games, but nowt else has been agreed. So this first round of games are on youtube without commentary. Germany Hungary game hasn't appeared so I'll watch Netherlands Bosnia. Hopefully by October either Premier or someone else will have the rights. Edited September 7, 2024 by HawkMan

Just discovered Germany game was on Viaplay International on YT after all , it was mislabelled as Sweden v Estonia! However really enjoyed Netherlands v Bosnia 2- 1 to Netherlands, so I'll stay with that. 1
HawkMan Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Netherlands 3-1 , probably game over, so I switched on Ukraine v Albania. Wow, what an incredible atmosphere, packed stadium, and it's in Prague, and as I tuned in Albania scored to lead 2-1, I'll stay here methinks. The Nations League is catching the imagination. YouTube has just recommended me Turks & Caicos v Belize. The Hallucinating Goose Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 I'm getting settled in for a world class double bill of international football. Luxembourg v Belarus at 2, followed by Gibraltar v Liechtenstein at 5.

The Hallucinating Goose Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 What an incredible end to the Gibraltar game! 1-1 going into 9 minutes of added time and Liechtenstein score in the 93rd minute. The goal goes to VAR and is chalked off for offside. From the following free kick, Gibraltar go straight up the field and score to make it 2-1. Because of the VAR, added time is extended to 13 minutes and in the last minute of the time, Liechtenstein are awarded a penalty for a Gibraltar handball in the box. They score the penalty and it ends 2-2. What an incredible period of added time that was!!
