guess who
I have suffered badly from it in bith eldbows. Due to using hammers in a previous job. Had a few steroid injections in both. The pain would go away for a while. Due to changing jobs i dont suffer with it any more. One thing i will say. Its a #####.

Phil
It's one of the many musicians' maladies I'd guess... Yeah it's caused by playing my bass "Freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality" - Mikhail Bakunin

Griff9of13
Stop playing bass then. Simple. Are you my doctor? That's like the advice he used to give me when I showed up with the various rugby induced injuries over the years. Futtocks
Are you my doctor? No, he's a music critic. Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Leeds Wire
It's horses for courses, there's no single cure. My eldest son has it from playing squash and he now straps his elbow to prevent it from 'hyper-extending'. If I were you I would try and see a physio and get some advice that is specific to your circumstances.
longboard
Yeah it's caused by playing my bass It may be time to concentrate on the double bass, or perhaps the tea chest bass.

westlondonfan
Change the strings round and play left handed then? If you are in the UK Subs then you should be okay. If you are playing Stanley Clarke stuff then I don't think it's going to work !!
tim2
Anti-inflammatories for starters - I took Ibuprofen for a month (under doctor's orders). They can go for stronger ones if necessary. If that doesn't work then it may be steroid injections but they are nasty. Even though I used to play tennis I got my tennis elbow shoveling soil. I'm currently suffering from a frozen shoulder, which is a also a serious annoyance. "I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

timtum
I do much massaging of the painful bit (that little space under the jutting bone) using as much force as I can bear from the opposite thumb. Seems to work. Having a quick squiz on youtube this seems to be a common "cure". To be honest, I have ended up just putting up with it once it eased from ow ow ow levels of pain. Stretching and the like also help. Good luck!
