Apart from refereeing, it's more than thirty years since I wore a watch.

1...Cheer when our hooker wins a scrum 'against the head'

2..Write a 3 in the match programme against the try scorers name.

3...Keep a keen lookout at the start of the second half for the youngster selling the 'half time score'  edition of the local paper.

4..Go to the farthest pick up point from home to ensure a seat on the 'match day special' bus service.

I haven't worn a watch or any form of jewelry for about 40 years.

As they used to say about Iwan Roberts, for a centre forward, teeth are merely jewelry.

I get really paranoid if I go out without my watch, I have to have my phone with me if I do go out without one. My watch is centrally radio operated to an accurate time signal. (Except today when the clocks have gone back an hour)

Doesn't the radio signal automatically update when the time-switch happens?

These days, while I own more things with clocks in them than I used to years ago, the only manual adjustments I need to make twice a year are my watches (all non-digital). Switch on the TV of video recorder, and the time-code sorts it in seconds. All clocks at home are radio controlled.

The only oddity is a cheap travel alarm clock I bought second-hand because I needed one in a hurry, which turns out is set to adjust to German time, so I let it auto-set, then turn off the receiver and manually change the hour.

Normally it does, but because where I live is in a signal blackspot, I usually have to go into town, and I can't be bothered today as I'm cooking an Oxtail stew.

Fair enough; it sounded odd in you post, but I know what it's like living in a signal void.

I respect your opinion but couldn't care less as it is a trivial matter.

Watch football.

which version?

  •  drive my own car, parked it 2 years ago this week just gone, cycling miles have gone up a fair bit though and a few more mid distance train journeys.
  • Bang the TV when the picture isn't much cop, worry about tripping over the cable of the remote control, watch endless reruns of 'The Fog' and other films on redifussion's cableview
  •
