Still don't see anything clueless or stupid.

I’ll show you.  It’s below. Pay particular attention to the words in BOLD.

Along with my refrained reply.

Glad to help.

That stikes me as an unfair representation of what the furlough scheme is supposed to be and how clubs are using it.

The furlough scheme was created to protect jobs that weren't viable during an enforced period of commercial inactivity. For all intents and purposes, lower-league RL is still commercially inactive and unviable. The business model relies on physical crowds and government regulations don't allow that. This is the very definition of what the furlough scheme is there for and to suggest that clubs are simply "taking money and offering nothing in return" is grossly unfair (and I say that as someone who has no dog in this particular hunt). It isn't viable for the clubs to offer anything in return because it isn't viable to reassume those costs.

Should the business plan change? Absolutely, but that was the case well before COVID and the simple fact is that the sport in general, not just at the lower end of the pyramid, has failed to diversify its revenue streams for over 125 years, so let's not pretend that the game can do it in three months.

Why can't both be true? Clubs on both sides of debate are acting out of self-interest.

My personal view (and it is just that) is that ensuring that clubs are only taking on costs and salaries when they are viable (the very thing the furlough scheme was designed to do) is a greater interest than letting a decking salesman play with his toys. The sport has greater obligations than simply appeasing the problem child at the back of the class.

So if you have no particular dog in this hunt! Why call a chairman out? As Harry states you do have a bee in your bonnet.

With the Sky contract about to end it would be great to trial pay-per-view by live streaming, in case the Championship don't get anything out of the next contract? With advancing technology it would be unwise to sign all rights away to Sky anyhow, especially if away fans and those living abroad or on holiday could watch live games on pay-per-view? Mark Las Palmas would be in his element!

I don’t disagree in what you’re saying. I think we debated this a while back. As in people sat on their behinds and no input for the future.

The thread shows a partition in what clubs want to do and what they don’t want to do.

Basically some of them need spoon feeding.

As in my post I was commenting on his description of one man in particular, not the statement made by another poster that is why I highlighted the part I was referring to, if you care to look back you will see that.

I think the comments WMS put there are an entirely objective view of the situation.

So you don't like him having a dig at Degsy, but you are happy to slag off other clubs who don't agree with your beloved chairman.

Maybe he should'nt call Degsy but if that makes him clueless and stupid then surely it follows that you are the same.

Objection over ruled by this poster Tommy, as I said in my post and reasoned why it was a character assassination, tell me have you ever seen reference that Mr Beaumont is suggesting clubs in the Championship who wish to sit out this season should not be allowed to do so?

Is this thread now just people arguing whether it is OK to call someone clueless and stupid for insulting Beaumont?

It's been a real exciting read up to this point ..

As a London fan, I am still pretty indifferent about the 2020 season - If it just gets cancelled and we restart in 2021, I personally wouldn't mind -

I would like to watch some live rugby again this year, but I couldn't really care less if we are playing for promotion or just some silly cup for a season.

Fully understand and respect your position Click, my take is that I am not up for going to watch friendly fixtures or the contrived silly cup you mention, each to our own I suppose.

Now you are getting the poster's mixed up.

Anyway which Gittins are you a fan of my old mate Stan or his younger brother Tommy, just wondering, if the former surely you are from Batley?

I've seen plenty of reference to Mr Beaumont (local lad done good decking salesman as factually stated by WMS) throwing his toys out of the pram bc he's thus far only half convinced Fev to carry on at all costs. His 16 team 4 relegated Super League idea has been denied, his 13 team idea is unlikely at best. None of his other ideas have gotten traction and have inspired comments of "pub teams" to describe most of the Championship competitors. I understand him throwing toys out of the pram, I'd be frustrated too. However, as I've always said, the route for Mr Beaumont to get what he wants has always been far more diplomatic and conciliatory - I fear the moment for that may have passed.

Looking honestly H, would you risk restarting with the uncertainty now when the prime driver behind that restart has shown less than 3 years ago that should his teams promotion bid fail he would walk mid season? On top of everything else that fact alone won't fill many with confidence at Mr Beaumont's prudence or judgement for the Championship.

If you think stating some clubs need spoon feeding is slagging them off.
You’re kidding yourself. It’s fact and fans like you need to stop making excuses and hiding from those facts.

The Championship is most definitely a division within a division.

Just some cannot accept that.

Results in the assassination of one guy from 14 owners, all of whom will look at their own particular circumstances and put forward what is best in the interests of their own clubs.

That child at the back of the class has not (as far as I have been informed) suggested any club should be submitted to anything that will compromise their financial viability in the long run, what is suggested is that THOSE CLUBS who wish to re-enter a competition to compefe for promotion should be allowed to do so, whilst those who prefer to sit it out can also take that course of action, if at such a stage paying spectator's are allowed back into the stadia, then those clubs who declined to play on could arrange fixtures between themselves as friendlies or for some 'emergency' trophy, win win all round for everyone.

And, as been pointed out time and again, the SL clubs would not agree to promotion from any such arrangement, under any circumstances. Snookered again Harry.

That has been stated and acknowledged for years. I fail to see what relevance this has to restarting the Championship whilst the country is still in the throes of a massive crisis. Insulting other clubs, their owners and their supporters simply because your own club has been frustrated in its short-term ambitions adds absolutely nothing to the debate, does it?

Fair enough Harry.I,m just a bit fed up of some of the comments of a couple of your fans.

Yes,you are right in your assumptions about Stan and my team. It's a few years ago now,but I think Terry Gorman brought him to the Mount along with Tommy Martyn from Leigh amateur rugby(possibly Leigh Miners). Two brilliant signings for Batley.
