I was just walking home from work when I heard a souped up car coming up behind me. Obviously I wondered which of the usual chavvy cars it was going to be.

It passed me and I laughed my head off when I saw it was a mid-noughties Vauxhall Zafira! 🤣

On the subject of spotting things when walking home, I take my hat off to whoever was responsible for this graffiti on a street corner down Princes Ave. Somebody must have done it hoping that somebody else might get it.

Wow, the Princes Ave chavs are far more clever and sophisticated than I realised!

The Richard Dunn Sports Centre is a really ugly 1970's disused sports centre opposite Odsal Stadium. The council wants to knock it down and build either a new stadium or an industrial estate on the site. It would have knocked it down but kept it open as a contingency mortuary in the Covid Pan(dem)ic.

About ayear ago, some pesky dogooder got it registered as a List 2 Protected Structure because of the unique design of its steel-sheet roof.

A couple of months ago, there was a relatively minor fire at the site, extinguished by the fire service. Today, there's a report of a major fire ... in a concrete and steel building.

Check out the video interview with the fire chief in this report!

Have you been trying to burn it down Wolford????? 😉

Nah, it's amazing what some people get listed. In my town, in the last few years, there has been a couple of incidents of this. The first was a brick wall that is listed and a developer pulled it down and was ordered to rebuild it exactly how it was. The second was some paving slabs on a random residential street that were lifted and had to be put back exactly how they had been.

And yet now, the council are fine with Network Rail pulling down the railway station's listed footbridge, which is one of the few remaining of its design in the country, and replacing it with some boring, ten-a-penny, modern footbridge.

I think some of the coverage in the local media has been a bit misleading and some of them have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. Network Rail are restoring the cast iron bridge at Beverley, not pulling it down. What they are removing is the rotten wooden canopy that was a later addition to the bridge.

Chucked it down non-stop all day.

Even had to watch golf. The father of a bloke I work with caddies for Matt Fitzpatrick. A tenuous link but, no play in the cricket and I was bored stiff.

Matt's brother, Alex, finished joint-18th and won £146,000.

Samsung Health app on my phone set a target of 8000 steps per day.

Between the kitchen, front room, conservatory and downstairs toilet i've clocked up 244 steps.

Family faced with half hour walk home! Ooh no! Imagine such a lengthy walk, no one can possibly do that! Cos I didn't used to walk 45 mins each way to work every day in the early hours of the morning......
