Anglian Vipers

A very entertaining game at Wymondham this afternoon. The Vipers led North Herts Crusaders 22-4 at half time but Crusaders got back into game and it was 34-32 with ten minutes left. The Vipers then scored two late tries to win 46-32, a well played game by both teams.

Great show Eddie. Good to see them doing well so early in their existence. Keep it up lads.

I went to watch the Fighting Irish defeat the Black Dragons in the Welsh RL comp, this afternoon.

Very enjoyable day out. A fiercely contested match, with a good crowd of about 120 or so.

It's early days for both teams (only our second outing) but both have a lot of potential and already display a lively capacity to entertain.

Nice article about the Anglian Vipers from the TRL News thread last month.

This weekend’s opponents have pulled out of the fixture in Norfolk (sadly a common theme in the East RL division) so instead local Union club Crusaders will be coming to Wymondham on Friday evening to play the Vipers at Rugby League. Sunny weather forecast and the bar will be open, should be an enjoyable occasion.

Good idea to play Friday evening. Hope you get a few along to watch.

A great evening at Barnards Fields yesterday, with the Vipers playing their last game of the season, a friendly against local Union side Crusaders.

Around 140 people were there to watch the Vipers win 46-4 but the result didn’t matter, it was a hard fought game played in good spirit and many of the Union boys got their first experience of rugby league. Hopefully some will be back next season playing for the Vipers.

Any ex-Kings Lynn players at the club?

Yes, one is involved in the club but he’s not playing any more. It’s the same county but it’s a fair trek from Kings Lynn to Wymondham.

Hull FC are hosting a development day at Wymondham in conjunction with the Vipers on 10th August. Should be good opportunity for some local lads to give League a go, and for Hull to assess the local talent.

Wow! Hope it works out for both Hull and Vipers.

We’re you local when the Norwich City Saxons we’re around @Eddie?

Yes, but I knew very little about them at the time, not really the right time in my life for stuff like that.

I'd like to see SL clubs doing more of this kind of stuff alongside development in their own areas.

If clubs partnered with a few community clubs in expansion areas they could help them develop the game in that area.

Another Hull FC development day is happening in Norfolk on April 1st, in conjunction with the Anglian Vipers and Langley school. It’s great to see a Super League team taking an interest in youth players in the area.

Well done to you all.

This is awesome.

Tried to get a few clubs interested in a couple of Kings Lynn Black Knights kids in the past but there was no appetite to take a look.

To see Hull (and Salford) doing this I great news. More of it is essential to identify new talent.

There’s a Vipers interview on this week’s 13 Pro Am Community podcast this week, if anyone is interested in what’s going on in Norfolk. It starts on 47 minutes but the whole show is, as always, worth a listen for those interested in the Community game.
