Mike Ford is England RU player George's dad. He was saying in the paper on Saturday that he has friends amongst the ranks of past players who he hopes will help with master classes to improve skills and motivation. These include Paul Sculthorpe and Barry McDermot, as well as George and some of his contacts.

Good luck to them in securing the future of a club which is a keystone of the game,  but as you said, except when they play us.

George was at the recent match against Rochdale Hornets with his dad.

I reckon it will be much the same team as last week because it will be another tough one to win, but win I think we can. I sincerely hope so.

Well.   What a game.  Reckon Oldham probably deserved to  win but crikey, that last penalty will be interesting viewing on the highlights 🤔

Full marks to the lads for sticking to their guns and fighting back the way they did however.  10 down with 10 to play I thought we’d had it.  Our resilience this year is awesome.
Defence not quite as good this week as it has been this season but that pitch is massive and Oldham worked it well.
As with last week hard to pick a mom, but I’m gunna and I chose Ollie Greensmith.   Outstanding going forward.
The unbeaten run continues 😀😀

Happy with the point. To be frank, if we had won it would have been most unfair on Oldham, but sport is rarely fair.

They played well and we didn't for much of the game. For whatever reason we looked flat, especially in the first half, and they were very lively with ball in hand. The kicking from hand was very good and Restall will be having nightmares about those towering bombs raining down on him.

I agree about Greensmith going forwards but do wish we could give him more ball in the opponent's 20 rather than just using him to run the ball out of our half. He is a proven tryscorer with the right service yet we seem to pick out a forward rather than him on too many occasions.

Whilst not too happy to lose our 100% record the result should set out feet firmly back on the ground and focus upon the second half of the season - it won't be easy.

Attended game today and posting before reading any other comments. First of all venue is a complete joke. Shared toilets in 2023 come on. Secondly the referee Rossleigh interpretation and policing of the ruck was also a joke. Could say more about him but I won’t. Moving on us Dewsbury we’re flat un energetic and very very lucky to come away with a point. Again without naming individual players some very poor performances. On the day Oldham deserved the win. However great credit to our boys for coming away with a point. Still don’t know how we did it. That’s it for now.

You're right about the ground. Although it meets the minimum criteria for league 1. It's something we've had to deal with from the old regime.

We're moving back to Boundary Park next year so not sure how long you've been watching RL or had the chance to go since we last played there (circa 2009) but it'd be one of the best grounds in Super League, never mind championship

Yes the ground isn't up to standard we all agree that nothing we could of done about that, new ownership at Oldham now and back to a great stadium at Boundary park next season so onwards and upwards and hopefully the start of rebuilding a once great club. has for the game it was greatly contested today Oldham was unlucky not to win but thats the way it is, loved meeting up with some Dewsbury supporters I've known many years and will look forward to meeting up again in June.

Hi been watching and played amateur rugby league for the past thirty seven years. Previously attended Watersheddings and Boundary park. Watersheddings with Wakefield Trinity and Boundary park with Sharlston Rovers in a challenge cup game. We need a strong and vibrant Oldham rugby league club. Smack in the middle of that M62 corridor. Good luck and although it pains me to say IMHO Oldham deserved to come out winners today. Hope to see a good few of you at the return fixture where I know you will all be made very very welcome.

Great stuff Dazz. Hopefully great impetus going forward with the new board etc. We need a strong Oldham rlfc right in the heart of that M62 corridor. IMHO Oldham deserved the win today. Be great to see a good turn out of Oldham supporters for the return fixture. You will all be made very very welcome.

As I wasn’t at the match yesterday, it’s no good offering the barest of comments. Details would be helpful to piece together what really happened by telling us a) where the referee might have done things wrongly (I did hear that one of their tries came after a knock on) and b) which players were letting the side down, or generally poor.

Oldham's ptb's were quicker than ours because they knew how to land on their front and get up quickly. When we were tackled they held us down until they were set, which he didn't penalise except for a couple of "6 agains" (one at the first tackle). We should have slowed their ptb's down but didn't know how.

Some players who would have got 9/10 last week may have been 7/10 this week - they are human, not robots. I don't agree with naming players on public forums except when praising them, but realise that is simply my choice.

Believe it or not this is the second occasion I have to agree with BSJ’s assessment. Twenty four hours later and having reflected the most pleasing thing for me is IMHO we played at around 75% and Oldham still failed to put us away.

Gotta agree that they were faster all round, especially in the first half.  Not only were they far quicker at the play the ball, but much quicker off their line when defending. But…… I do think it took its toll.   They were blowing by the end and that’s why we were able to get back in.

Can’t see them liking our pitch when they come next month.
