Central distribution in the championship is based on final league position (50%) plus performance against ROI criteria (50%) so can only be calculated at the end of the season.

Keighley will still be on league 1 funding (£16k a year I think) but will also have prize money from last year for winning the league.

Think your slightly wrong there . Whitehaven finished in the top 6 in 2021 and got pittance for 2022 . The 2 promoted teams barrow and workington by all accounts got more

Funding has been slashed for the Championship too. Barrow and Workington must have done better on some of the ROI stuff. Prize money is only one part of funding and for finishing 6th would have been about £50k. In theory a club could come bottom of the league and receive almost the same funding as the club who finished top if they do well on ROI criteria.

I agree that this sort of published Q&A is very transparent and admirable. I wouldn't agree with all of the decisions the owners make but it can only be a good thing to have them explained in this way.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Even if there isn't, why isn't the central funding transparent or at least known?

Yeah sorry for hijacking this thread, but there are too much of RL that isn't wholly transparent.

Central funding, salaries, who is or isn't on the quota, RFL meetings, academy dispensations, attendances, sponsorship, etc.

Some of the above is covered by business confidentiality, but if in other sports such information is available, then why not RL?

Nevertheless good Keighley wish to keep their support onside.

Apart from when they're making fools of themselves at RFL meetings and in the media obvs.

How so? They're allowed to disagree with the flimsy IMG proposals and protect their own interests.

Agree the sport won't grow new supporters everyone you speak to about rugby league Says its a joke how it's run. A sport now knowing what promotion can be won at start of season.

Never said they weren't allowed to disagree, it's the manner they've gone about it that's shown them up.

Not shown them self up really standing up for what believe. Lot of other clubs didn't want it but no balls to stand up and vote against it.

Hunslet voted against it but didn’t make themselves look ridiculous.

What did they do exactly that made themselves look ridiculous?  I just read them expressing a fairly reasonable opinion about why they think IMGs new world order isn't the answer.

The professional looking black and white clip art flyers weren't a great start.

Is that your entire argument?

The entire argument runs, correctly, that they put together a series of completely amateurish documents, press conferences and statements that were filled with holes, errors and self-serving nonsense whilst, at the same time, managing to look like they'd been put together on a computer that couldn't quite stretch to running Windows '95.

All while insulting everyone who disagreed.

Thankfully, they were then soundly beaten in the voting and have now agreed to go along with whatever IMG decides - which, at least, is a decent response to losing.

You can tell who has and hasn't had to deal with the RFL in a professional capacity to see what side of the Keighley/IMG argument you come down on.

I don't care if they're sending messages by carrier pigeon, it doesn't mean they weren't right to question things.
