The highest ever aggregate score

Recommended Posts

This is along a similar theme to the thread about the lowest score that never happened.

Partly inspired by some of the discussion around teams scoring first then losing heavily I'm interested in what is the highest ever score where BOTH teams have scored.

I seem to recall West Wales losing 100-4 once. That's my opening bid!

There's been a few occasions when a team has scored over 40 and lost.

I remember Barrow beating Hunslet 41-40 away a few decades ago

This is a more interesting subject.

The highest scoring draw is still Leeds 46 Sheffield 46 as far as I know.

Leigh beat York 100-4 in 2022, but can't think of any to beat the score in your first post.

2001 was a vintage year for these kind of scores (hammerings but not nillings) for York. We lost...

90-6 Widnes (A)

12-84 Leigh (H)

78-8 Chorley (A)

6-70 Oldham (H)

82-4 Doncaster (A)

92-2 Fev (A)

11-66 Widnes (H)

84-1 Leigh (A)

There were a few nillings too... 😅

Love these scorelines, the last 3 in particular. At least the travelling support away at Leigh had something to cheer that day.

Wow! Just looked this up and Greg Austin scored 9 tries!

He actually crossed the line for his 10th but stopped and passed it to Dean Hanger as not to break/equal the great Lionel Cooper's tries in a game record too.
