Dewsbury 8 - Swinton

They turned Fev over (albeit at home) and so we’ve no chance.

Agree……

Few things it'd be good to see.

As Brad Graham is a great catcher of the high ball why not put some kicks up near the opposition line like we did last season.

Calum Turner dribbled the ball through a few times last season and scored.

A scrum move. A run around. Pushing in the scrum when it's the opposition ball.

And when we put a high ball up near the opposition line actually challenge for the ball rather than stand and watch them catch it. The worst that can happen is we knock on and they get the ball anyway.

A win 🤔

A committed 80 minute performances

8 ball boys and giving me the afternoon off 🤔

10-24 to the Lions (that's if we manage to score 10)

What can you say? At 20-12 down, with 11 men on the field, we turn down a simple 2 points, a minute off the clock and we get back to one score. So we run it, lose it early in the tackle count, Hookem (who can't defend to save his life) gives away a 2nd penalty for a needless high tackle and Swinton scored.

We only woke up after 20 minutes and 18-0 down, though their 2nd try scorer was clearly offside. So all we have to do is keep 13 men on the pitch but Ronan Dixon gets himself 20 minutes in the bin. Add in the usual unforced errors and another game lost we could have won.

We need a couple of half backs.

I rarely comment on referees but all I would say it is no wonder Thaler is reffing bottom end Championship games. I really don't think he does us any favours. It was the same last week at Halifax. Swinton weren't offside once in the whole game apparently. Hopefully we don't get him again.

I actually quite enjoyed that game.

Yes discipline was poor and we were never going to win, constant silly mistakes can make the whole experience just irritating.

But at times the Swinton lads were looking backwards at us and had to shift to slow us down.

We’ve played worse this year.

Usually when you see a side with an attacking line as flat as their defensive line they are playing at around under-10 level. You know, just after they get past the stage of all charging about after the ball like a swarm of bees.

Not to worry though. A half decent coach will soon teach them how to pull back the wingers and set up the attacking line on them.

Thaler had a decent game from my viewpoint. He didn't head-butt anyone nor throw any punches, in fact he was very tolerant of both fairly ill-disciplined sides. A poor example of Championship RL with both sides looking suitable for C1.

We are so lacking in structure or attacking shape it is quite confusing what coaching is going on, or are we simply just seeing the season out? I presume that Turner was injured along with the rest, otherwise playing a man on the bench who was brought on for just the last 4 minutes was baffling.

The video will be interesting to watch for those with the stomach to go through that again.

Not capitalising on a 2 man advantage is concerning. Swinton were actually as easy to break as we were As soon as we had the ball in their 20 we went through them easy. Although we played in our own half for the 1st quarter of the game and their 3 score advantage was too much for a poor side to fully recover from

This all points to the coaching IMO, some players are individually skillful others perform better as a team player. The coach needs to see this and create the game plan accordingly. It's their job to make sure it's either stuck to if it's working or have a leader on the park who can make the correct call or if not get message on and change it.

March will be with us next season and like others he certainly wouldn't be my choice (I doubt there would be many other coaches who keep their job after 20 straight defeats). If we don't see 2 or 3 wins (or at least close competitive games) in the first 4 or 5 games next season then he has to go. Simples!

Oh well least Syksey got MOM. Should please the old faithful. Fergie can’t have been far off either so double pleasure points.

It’s our valued sponsors that choose the MOM. If it’s any consolation and as a old faithful,Syksey wouldn’t have been my choice.

Well said Graham.   I imagine getting sponsors for Dewsbury is as challenging as trying to get a decent run through Ravensthorpe in the car, so belittling them for choice of MoM is a poor shout.   We’ve had one episode of that before.     As far as I’m concerned they could have picked Thaler,.   They put there money in and I am VERY grateful.

..........as with many things, picking a M-o-M is purely subjective ........ Plus point was that yesterday's sponsors promised to be with us again next season !!    Let's hope they're picking a M-o-M for the winning side next time around.

Everybody on my Facebook knows the infinity & love I have for the merry whistleblowers such as

Kendall

both Moore's

Griffiths

Grant

Smith

But!!!!!!

I would pick Ben Thaler above all those.

Old style Common sense refereeing

Thaler didn't Butt anybody

Stiff arm anybody, drop passes, or knock on, he was liberal in the offside rule for both teams allowing the game to flow, cards given to both teams were justified.

He even neglected to lash the "6 again" rule to death

If we're gonna slate referee's when there bad, we also have to praise them when there good.

I actually sat and watched the game yesterday which is rare for a home game, Swinton were c.rap, and we was worse, got what we deserved like we have all season.. Ziltch

One more home game to suffer then the season can go in the coffin and get buried deep into the history of the club, never to be talked about again, and will only be rolled out when we're just as bad again in the future to compare how bad this team really has been.
