Bert Street Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Batley are an admirable, well run club with an iconic ground, who always punch well above their weight. One of my favourites, but hope we beat them! 4
Tim G Posted February 21 Posted February 21 If possible, can we all bring a friend or a neighbour to the match on Sunday. This team of ours deserves a big crowd. Go the Yeds. Â

My dad and uncles watched the Rugby, back then it wasnt oldham or the yeds, it was the rugby, my mates dads and uncles watched the rugby. They told tales of battles long gone. Ganley, jackson, Etty, turner et al. So me and my mates watched the rugby. We had a routine. Couple of pints in the junction, then worked up the hill , had a quick one in the club. Watched the match, then back into the club and worked our way back down the hill. During the SL years we did the pubs around BP. After that the culture died, there was no continuity. As previously mentioned there was a lost generation. It will take time to rebuild that culture.  Â

Roughyeds was the nickname but not universally used.
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted February 22 Posted February 22 How's Wardy getting here? Is he going to Batley to get the team bus? Or are they stopping off at his house so he can hop on or is he going to walk down broadway with the rest of us yonners?

Then fought back up the slope and hit the upright with a very late drop goal effort. Brian Noble was standing with us on the terraces. I think the fightback started after we sang If you're all going to Hemel

wroteforluck87 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Been looking forward to today since waking up Monday morning, I don't want to let the result against York lead to over confidence, I'm still expecting a Yeds win but I suspect it will be a closer game today. I also fear the weather may have effect on the game and the attendance. Â 1
Stevos Barber Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Just about to leave for the game and bringing future son in law with me. He's a total Rugby League virgin. Keeping fingers crossed for a good game and a great atmosphere for him 4
jroyales Posted February 23 Posted February 23 With so many reasons for the poor attendance against York last week i.e. too many home games, start of the school holidays and a poor away following, I feel today's attendance will be even lower due to expense, the weather and the football. It might be wise to postpone the game due to dangerously high winds.
tandle Posted February 23 Posted February 23 good point jr terrible weather. looked out over royton trees bending horizontal rain went outside could not keep my eyes open because of the rain.
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted February 23 Posted February 23 My weather app says 100% rain but only a moderate wind warning.Â
winedrinkerme Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Weather looks bad anyone sat  on the front few rows will get very wet
Tim G Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Just get down to the game folks. This team deserves our full backing no matter the weather 4
