RogerT Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Can we pay on the gate on the day or is it by ticket only. I'm coming across from Batley.

If we get another low crowd, this suggests to me there's an underlying issue. Have we reached our support ceiling? Are ticket costs too much? It's certainly not the product on the pitch as it's top notch. 1

Was said on the main thread but I think York and Barrow can be explained by the cold weather. There have been a lot less kids at the game the past couple of weeks which I would put down to parents deciding to keep away. I would expect the numbers to start to creep up again in the summer. Obviously if they don't and the average stays at 1,500 then the club probably does need to start asking some questions as to why there hasn't been growth when you've sold 800+ season tickets. 2

Tim G Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I am rather concerned with the lack of marketing for the club for sometime now. This is the best Oldham team in over 20 years, having top players, great coach and fabulous playing style on offer. Sadly less than 1% of the population of Oldham attends games. Talking to friends who are slightly interested in the team, they all confirm knowing little to nothing of the present team or even that they now play at Boundary Park. We no longer have the Chronicle for the population to pick up free advertising of the team, therefore a new approach is essential. Leaflet distribution of 10000 homes costs as little as £400 and if only 100 people are attracted by this method, it pays for itself. Also mass sell the yeds YouTube channel, the content is amazing, yet hardly anyone knows about it. Bill and Mike have performed minor miracles and I for one am prepared to volunteer to get the message out. Anyone got any other ideas, let's get them to the board and why not get this amazing team the support it deserves 3
tandle Posted February 18 Posted February 18 the best advertisement you could have was last sundays result. i think next sunday there will be a descent attendance.
tandle Posted February 18 Posted February 18 weather forecast sunday. gusty winds and heavy rain all day. but it says 10 degrees. allot warmer.

What are we thinking of on the flyer.. dates of the next 4 home game and maybe a promo code for 25% off ?

Details of the YouTube channel and other media. As an idea of how the scheme is working, all tickets for the promo code should be for the Rochdale road stand . If someone at the club can design and print leaflets, I will also deliver to as many doors as possible and get local businesses to display in their premises. 2

Spangled Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The weather will have kept many away especially with young children. Also something that needs to be taken into account is that on many Sundays, either United or City could be at home. Fans who support either and the Yeds will have paid upwards of £900 for their football season ticket so would most likely go to the football as they have already paid. I think we will see more fans regularly attending once the football season is over. I was unable to attend on Sunday as I now live away from Oldham but am looking forward to the trip over this week and am bringing along two who have never been before, hopefully another good performance and win and they will be hooked! 4
Bert Street Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Our crowd issues are very age related. There's no shortage of people over 40 and there is plenty of evidence of youngsters being brought in and getting the bug. Where the main problem lies is those between 20 and 40 who appear pretty thin on the ground. Most people in that age group have grown up without having a viable club to support. We effectively shut up shop for a generation. 5
PaulB1984 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 All these points are valid and make up some of the reasons for mediocre crowds early doors. Another one I feel is the move to playoff rugby. I think teams (especially Super League) and most probably supporters grow into the season ahead. You don't have to guarantee your seat like the football with season tickets. Similar to last season I think we will see crowds improve progressively throughout the season, and would hope for some 2500+ attendances in the 2nd half of the season with better weather and hopefully play off chasing rugby. York at home at that stage of the year will draw another 600/700 at the very least IMO. Looking forward to my first trip up this year for the London game 3
Roughyed73 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I think one thing to consider is that we have played ALL our games - Wigan, Rockerdale, Mayfield, Barrow and York at home. The cost for some cant be sustained week in week out. Come alternative H & A matches im hoping this will have an improvement on attendances. Up the Yeds and roll on Sunday! 6

Costing me a fortune this Sunday. Me and the two grandkids as usual, plus the two parents at my expense. Well worth it. Can’t wait. 2 2
Dog forever Posted February 19 Posted February 19 No promotion this season, so not as much interest as previous seasons. Another great idea by the RFL to promote the game ( not). This deffo has an impact on the click of the turnstiles, hence lesser attendees. 5
Bert Street Posted February 19 Posted February 19 In terms of our crowds, it's going to be a long road back. By the time we left Watersheddings we were down to around 3,000 regulars. We all know what has happened in the interim. The best thing we can do for now is keep winning. I also wonder if we count our attendances in the same way as Latics, who automatically counts season ticket holders whether or not they turn up. Common practice in football. Not sure why. 2
