It was advertised on social media from 1pm, Please, if you watched it live, or subsequently, let the club know what you thought of the stream and how it might be improved (sensible suggestions only - ie dont ask for 23 different camera angles or Brian Carney presenting). Cheers. By the way, I understand it is Championship games only so you need a ticket to watch next week's 1895 game! It’s nice to be able to watch the game back … just not looking forward to the ending 1
StrennyKnight Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Defensively much more solid, but going forward, really frustrating again today. Yes the conditions were poor but so many handling errors from York, early on in the tackle count too - and then poor choices or execution if we did manage to get to the end of a set. Jordan Thompson as usual stood out going forward but also with great defensive efforts chasing back. Will listen back to Radio York interviews when I get a chance but I would be interested to find out why Taylor Pemberton, finally given an interchange place instead of being 18th, is then only required to jog up and down the touch line for 80 minutes? A couple of interesting knock-on interpretations towards the end of the game at both ends of the field - but thought Toulouse were the least worst side today so no complaints that they took the 2 points back to France. No need to panic too much just yet - but I fear it might be a difficult watch for a little while... Hopefully I'll be proved wrong and it will all fall into place for the visit(s) of Halifax! 1

Our try came off a knock on that wasn’t and the ball to Levi was a mile forward. Had the chance to go 7-0 up but didn’t try it. Defended well but overall Toulouse had more flair. We offered nothing in. Very disappointed You’re really clear on what the Knights did illegally… obviously in your opinion. Any thoughts on what went against us? Can you elucidate on the flair that Toulouse showed? Not sure who you joked with last year about the amount of hookers we had - there was only one in my opinion; Daley - and I’d have him back in an absolute flash. Jubb maybe a club legend but he was nowhere near Josh’s class for me. Again, in my opinion, we are missing Daley’s energy and passion in the tackle. I keep hearing he didn’t have a kicking game. I wasn’t worried about that at the time and still wouldn’t be if he walked back out on to the pitch. This statement doesn’t mean I’m against any of our present players - never will be. Want Pemberton to have go. But if McShane says I’m fit - surely he plays the 80? Would have tried to get Pemberton on though… in some capacity - Ferreira and Buchanan would have been candidates and shuffle people accordingly. 1

By flair I mean ball going through hands not one out like us sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward
mn79 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 We were the masters of our own downfall yesterday. Silly, basic handling errors, early in the tackle count and mainly near our own line proved costly in the end. Couldn't fault the application in defence but we don't half make life hard for ourselves. How did we, as a team, lose so much confidence so quickly? 1
Cam varley Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I’m most worried about our attack at the minute we look rubbish no fluidity not creating anything barrring keighley who judging by this weekends score v Rochdale seem to be the whipping boys we’ve scored 2 tries in 3 games and yesterdays came from a forward pass I know we’ve lost Paul Cooke but surely he wasn’t that important that we’ve lost our ability to function when it comes to having an attack 1

For your info, ABW, John, 02/03 v Halifax (no stream as I understand it) Paul McDermott. 09/03 Halifax Mick Ramsden. 23/03 v Batley (away/no stream) Jimmy Elston. Sparky appearances are subject to Batley games, obviously but hoping Sully and Cainy might manage to fill the seat as the season progresses.... 1 5

Much better than I did the live version, sitting in the stand, getting cold and frustrated at the mistakes. I got a much more enjoyable version of a scrappy game listening to your excellent commentary and Hendo's expert analysis. Let's face it, It was lousy weather for a good game of open rugby and that's what we got. A lousy, scrappy game. We all have our own ideas of who should have played and who shouldn't but my only real gripe was why on earth didn't we go for a drop goal when we led 6pts. to 0pts. with about 15 minutes to go! I guess it was because our skipper and brains of the side was on the touch line out injured by a foul last week by a guy who was ok to play this week for Oldham because of the stupid rules that haven't been thought through. Keep up the good work and many thanks to all involved for the new initiative. 4

Not a bad effort for a first go at all IMO. Looked a bit dodgy when first starting, but as soon as the teams came out, everything was fine. Andy's radio commentary (carried on the stream) synched perfectly with the action - it would have been pretty infuriating to hear Hendo's frequent bellows every time a big tackle went in from either side before you saw it Volume on the commentary was a bit low - but that might have been in anticipation of the summariser occasionally exploding........ Also - nice to see replays of incidents on the stream without missing any live action. As for the match, agree with almost all posted on the thread. Defence turned up today, but game management v. poor at the end. Thought the ref was pretty lenient towards us, as I thought there were a few hits that looked late or high that went unpunished. We looked a better team with Sam Cook on the pitch IMO. Feel a bit sorry for Levi, as it was his knock-on that gifted field position for the winning drop goal - he had played well before that. A very fair analysis from my point of view. Love the Radio York commentary from Andy Acko - sadly - or very fortunately I’m able to get to most games with my son, nephew and brother in law, so hear up until the team news prior to the game - then run back to the car with BBC Sounds getting fired up to rewind to hear who Andy’s guest says their Player of the Match. Hendo is too close to it - not mentioning Jordy Thompson on Sunday was a bit out of kilter for me. He was absolutely immense. Would like to understand better the fascination with Mark ‘Sparky’ Barlow… was he a Knights legend? Played one season from my research. Seems steeped in Batley? Happy to be educated - for me there should be a summariser that’s totally steeped in the Knights. Someone like Daz Callaghan.

Thought Hendo was fabulous on Sunday, his insight into the plays and the way the game unfolded added a dimension that I simply don't possess. I thinks sometimes a broader picture is good, hence Sparky, who, by necessity in his role as Bulldogs assistant coach, is something of a student of the Championship as a competition and adds something different on his appearances in the seat. I love the way Jimmy Elston anticipates play and plays before they occur, The way Paul Mac tells it like it is - straight to the point. Mick Ramsden is an absolute student of the game and his long experience as a player and assistant coach is invaluable when in the chair. Our match day summarisers are very different in their input and that, over a season, IMO, is better than having a the same person season-long, where I think you would end up having a very, very pro-Knights view. We are allowed a little partiality as a local radio station but it's great to reflect on what a great competition the Championship is as a whole, and the fantastic players and characters that populate it. And, of course, some of those players eventually end up in a Knights shirt ..... Dont worry, SK, Calla is in the crosshairs We have already broached the subject of an appearance. The biggest picture of all is the facility the BBC affords, the ability to cover all games, home and away, the ability to use summarisers, the facility to link up with the Knights on the new TV venture and the fantastic coverage outside game day provided by Pete Spencer and the rest of the sports team. Hopefully it will continue long after I have hung up me headset. 9 1

JonT Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Well said @andyacko We are extremely fortunate to get the degree, and quality, of support that we do from Radio York. So it is important, as supporters, we recognise this on the usual social channels, etc. 3

I’ve said before listening to Andy was the inspiration to my going to the LNER. Apologies… it was more a message to learn more about the history of the club. No malice meant. It was also to contrast with sports I know better - for example York City have Iain Dunn on Radio York - he’s a legend at City amongst other clubs - they’d never have an Assistant Manager from Hartlepool on there! I wanted to be educated on that -but it never came across like that. Appreciating the differences week on week. Note to self - don’t contribute to this site when finishing work and getting ready for bed without checking to reread! Apologies again and thank you for all the enlightening messages in reply. Love the Knights, the fans, this forum and this sport! Edited February 26 by Skelton Knight 2
andyacko Posted February 27 Posted February 27 No need whatsoever to apologise, SK. The feedback is really welcome, we certainly don't always get in right and look to refine and improve what we do. In Hendo's defence on Tommo, given the nature of the last fifteen minutes, I threw the MOM question at him very late and out of the blue.. 1
