ferres and O'Loughlin to widnes

Recommended Posts

On the banks of the Mersey, over on Cheshire side,

Lies Runcorn, that's best known to fame

By Transporter Bridge as tak's folks over its stream,

Or else brings 'em back across same.

In days afore Transporter Bridge were put up,

A Ferry Boat lay in the slip,

And old Ted the Boatman would row folks across

At tuppence per person per trip.

Now Runcorn lay over on one side of stream,

And Widnes on t'other side stood,

And as nobody wanted to go either place -

Well, the trade wasn't any too good.

One ev'ning, to Ted's superlative surprise,

Three customers came into view -

A Mister and Missus Ramsbottom it were,

And Albert, their little son, too.

Must've been before he was eaten by that lion!

“Few thought him even a starter. There were many who thought themselves smarter. But he ended PM, CH and OM. An Earl and a Knight of the Garter.”

Clement Attlee.

In "the return of albert", the lion feels sorry for him and coughs him out, meaning that he gets home just in time to prevent his dad from claiming the insurance. The final verse being

Then giving young Albert a shilling,

He said "Pop off back to the Zoo.

Ere's yer stick with the 'orse's 'ead 'andle-

Go and see what Tigers can do!"

What's wrong with the term coworker? They work together in the same position at work (player).

I think the term Co-worker is an American term.

Some people want to keep the English language rather than taking up the American way of speaking and spelling....

Then tell 'em to sort out the spellcheckers on these forums.

Bloomin' American spelling!!

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.
